& 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary

Call 888-969-5508 to listen to the service

Every year the youth representatives and I sit down and brainstorm a theme for the coming year. This past year Connor Gould, Eddie Bryan, Elizabeth Davis and I were stuck trying to think of what kind of theme we should have, especially for this year where we were hoping to make a big return to our larger activities. It was then that our own Patrick Murphy poked his head in to see what we were doing. As he left he encouraged us and said, “Make it happen!” All four of us looked at one another and exclaimed, “That’s it!”

Our theme for this year has been "Make It Happen" and it has fit so well. Our students have persevered through some of the most unprecedented times and we found new and old ways of meeting, growing, and learning about God and one another together. We have also had the chance to explore the ways we are called to "Make It Happen" in our daily living by serving others and being Christ’s hands and feet in the world.

We celebrate this past year with the culmination of Youth Sunday. I look forward to this Sunday every year and love to see our students leading us in worship. Music, liturgy, preaching, our students will be leading it all! We invite you to join in the celebration this Sunday at both the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services in the sanctuary. It’s time to “Make It Happen”!

In Christ,

Taylor Barner
Associate Pastor for Student and Family Ministries

New Website…A Year in the Making
Our new church logo is appearing everywhere we look, whether it’s on the Sunday worship bulletin, on the banners around the church campus, or online. Part of the drive behind the new logo is the work that has been going on for nearly a year on a new church website.

Our current website is nearly ten years old – in this digital era, that is considered ancient! And technology is ever evolving, so it is important that we incorporate new technologies where and when appropriate. Such is the case with our site. A small committee consisting of church members and staff has been working with bloom – a company who is taking the time to get to know and understand our church to lead us in this project. We are excited to announce that our new website will be launching in late May/early June.

As with all new sites, it will be a “work in progress” for the first few months. We ask for your patience as the “bugs” are worked out and updates are entered. A new website will not affect our other digital communications such as the Thursday e-blast and social media posts. They will continue as usual, and we suggest that you continue to rely on them for up-to-date information about what’s happening at FPC-Burlington.
Thank you!

Missions News
2022 “Don’t Trash It” Campaign
The Furniture Ministry team is getting set up for one of the wonderful missions of the church—the time when we all come together to collect, sort, wash and bag linens from the annual Elon University “Don’t Trash It!” campaign. This campaign provides 100-150 linen sets, enough to meet the needs of our clients for a large portion of the year. Raye Sapp is again heading up our church-wide effort.

The collection runs from May 11-May 31. We will be picking up donated linens daily during that time from Elon.

The linens will be taken to the Garrison Building where volunteers will sort them into sets and place them in bags for church members to take home and wash. When they are returned, volunteers will package them into complete “beds-in-bags,” each of which will contain a mattress pad, sheet and pillowcase set, and blanket or comforter.

Volunteers are needed to help with sorting and bagging on these days:
   May 13 — 9:30–12:00
   May 16, 18, 20 — 9:00-12:00
   May 23, 25, 27 — 9:00-12:00
   June 1, 3 — 9:00–12;00
June 7, 8, 9, 10 — 9:00–12:00 To finish and move all to Furniture Ministry warehouse.

To Volunteer to pack and sort:
Please contact either Furniture Ministry phone or email 336-212-2937, Furnmin3@gmail.com or Raye Sapp 336-260-5833, Raye@ivarsinc.com.

To Volunteer to wash:
Pick up and return after 8:30 service or after 11:00 service on following Sundays or any of the workdays May 15, May 22 and June 5. We would like all washed items returned by June 8.
Thanks for your help in this Wonderful ministry.
A Thank You Note from Andrews Elementary
Jin Jin,
Please let your congregation know how sincerely appreciative Andrews Elementary School staff members are of the outpouring of love and support this week during Staff Appreciation. The gift cards, plants, seeds, and kind words that our buddies shared just uplifted the staff and continue to encourage them while doing some tough work each day. First Presbyterian Church has supported our community of families, our children and our staff in so many gracious ways. Thank you for the partnership and all the love that your members show Andrews Leadership School. We are very blessed!
I hope that perhaps your pastor may find it worthy to share our note of thanks in your bulletin.
Kind regards,
Sabre
