Advent is Coming!

Sunday, November 20 following the 11 a.m. worship service we will decorate the church for the Advent season. We hope to see you there!

The Advent Season Begins Sunday, November 27

Upcoming Highlights:

Sunday, November 27

9:45am - Adult Advent Class - Chapel

The Gospel of Mark doesn’t have a nativity story — so where’s the advent message? It’s in every aspect of Jesus’ life, to his death and beyond. Our advent theme, Holy Disruption, presents a fresh understanding of the holiness of Christmas grounded not in a conventional, cozy Christmas message but through Mark’s disquieting Gospel, which invites its readers to experience God’s disruptive but transformative love for us and our world.

4-5:30pm - Children’s Christmas Choir Rehearsals & Advent Craft Night

Children’s Christmas Choir rehearsals continue and tonight come join us for a special Advent craft to take home!

For a full list of activities taking place during our Advent and Christmas season, check out www.fpcauburn.org/advent or download a printable schedule here.

PCM Assists 109 Families During Third Quarter

The Presbyterian Community Ministry (PCM) provided financial and home repair and renovation assistance to 109 Lee County families during the third quarter of this year.

Total income for the quarter was $41,607; expenses were $32,640. Income included $7,152 from membership dues, $18,000 in federal funds reserved for renovations, and $13,000 from our church. Expenses included about $18,000 for utilities and about $2400 for home renovations.

Among those whom PCM helped last quarter were

·        Rosemary, whose lung damage from COVID makes it impossible for her to work. She struggles financially while awaiting her application for disability assistance to be approved. PCM paid her power bill just hours before her power was to be disconnected.

·        Bill and his wife, who discovered a water leak in their Loachapoka home after they received a $300 water bill. They were able to rely on their social security checks to repair the leak but turned to PCM to get their water reconnected.

·        Brenda, a single mother of three unable to work because her severely autistic son needs constant attention. Her power was disconnected when the children’s father stopped paying child support, and she could not pay the bill. PCM was able to pay the bill and get the power reconnected.

Donations of any amount from our church members are always welcome. Those who wish to make a gift to PCM should send their checks to PCM, 143 East Thach Avenue, Auburn, AL 36830. Those wishing to become individual annual members ($250) or family members ($300) should send their checks to the same address.
