Thank you to all who came out to volunteer at the East Alabama Food Bank & Community Market and/or brought in donations of non-perishable foods and money all to help fight hunger in our local community. May we continue to use our hands, hearts, and financial gifts to demonstrate our love of God and neighbor.

Please be aware that there will be some road closures downtown this Sunday, February 27 because of the War Eagle Run Fest. 

You can see the link below to learn more about road closures that might effect your route to church from your home.

We spoke to Auburn Public Safety and they assured us that most road closures on the map will be open again by 7 a.m. The one exception being Samford Ave (west bound) will not open till later in the morning. So, if you are coming from Moore's Mill Avenue to the church, you can take University to Gay Street. Please also note that Gay Street will never be closed so you can access the church anytime via Gay Street.

Members and friends of all ages are invited to join us at 4 p.m. on February 27 at the Auburn University Community Garden (1161 W Samford Ave.) for a dedication service of our church's garden plot.

Come learn about plans for the garden, participate in some hands on activities, and join us in praying for the hands that will tend this soil and the clients of the Community Market who will receive our harvest.

The season of Lent is quickly approaching. This year's theme, "Grounded," will weave together our congregation's recent Mission commitments to food insecurity, a Lenten Sunday School Series focusing on God's creation, and (linked here), a daily devotional calendar that will ground us in God's Word through scripture and prayer.

Printed copies of this calendar will be available in worship beginning February 20. We hope you will join us on March 2, Ash Wednesday, at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary as we begin our lenten journey with worship that includes the imposition of ashes.

Earlier this month, per the recommendation of the COVID Task Force, the session approved a motion to begin resuming some of the worship practices that had been suspended throughout the course of the pandemic. One such practice is the regular rotation of volunteer ushers. Below we have provided sign up genius links for both head ushers and ushering teams. If you have never served as head usher before, there is a newly edited guide and plenty of volunteers and staff that will be happy to walk you through the process. This commitment is for the 11am service only.

HEAD USHER SIGN UP:

(This person coordinates the ushering team, manages the offering, and closes up the sanctuary at the end of the service. These volunteers typically sign up for a month at a time, but you can split your month with another individual if that works better for your schedule.)

USHERING TEAM SIGN UP:

(Beginning in March we will resume the passing of the offering plate. In addition to other duties, these are the ushers who pass the plate during the service. These volunteers typically sign up for a week at a time. This is a great opportunity for youth to be involved in worship!)

If you are unable to sign up online, you may contact Sarah Wolak at 334-728-7853 to sign up for a date. While the Sign-Up Genius page only has one slot available for each week, you are welcome to split the cost with another family-- just be sure to write both names in the comments section. The cost of the flowers has been increased to $50 per arrangement, not including tax and delivery fee. As before, you are welcome to bring the arrangements home after the service, or to leave them to be delivered to other members of the congregation.

Children Pre-K through 5th grade

•   Parents of 2nd through 5th graders: Acolytes are coming back the first Sunday of Lent! Beginning March 6, our 2nd through 5th graders will be lighting the candles at the beginning of the 11 a.m. worship service. We will have a brief Acolyte refresher/training session this Sunday after the 11 a.m. worship service. If your child is interested in being an Acolyte, come to the training this Sunday and see what it’s all about.

•   VBS will be June 20-23. More details to come!!!

•   The nursery is now available from 9 a.m. until noon on Sunday mornings for children birth to age 3.

•   Godly Play: After the Word to Grow By (at 11 a.m. worship), children ages 4 to 1st Grade will go to the Godly Play room to worship together for the remainder of the worship service.

•   Children’s Sunday school will meet this Sunday from 9:45 – 10:45 upstairs in the children’s classrooms.

•   Worship bags are also available for all children during worship.

•   Masks are required indoors for children 3 & over and youth, as well as all adults working with them.

Jr. and Sr. High Youth

•   The Jr./Sr. High Youth Retreat to Living River will be Feb. 25 – 27. Here is the link to register: http://pslpcusa.org/retreats/ Your cost is only $50 per youth made payable to FPC Auburn. When you register, be sure to click “Bill the church” and we will take care of the full payment.

•   Jr. and Sr. High Sunday school will meet this Sunday from 9:45-10:45 in the Sr. High room.

•   Jr. High Youth will meet at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

•   Sr. High Youth will meet at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
