Pentecost Offering 2024

The Pentecost Offering is one of four special offerings taken up by our church each year, part of our greater connectional relationship to the Presbyterian Church (USA). One special feature of this annual offering (as illustrated below) is that our congregation retains 40% of the offering to share with a local organization committed to helping children at risk.

At its stated meeting last month, the FPC Session unanimously voted to make Baby Steps Auburn (https://auburn.babysteps.org) the beneficiary of our 2024 Pentecost Offering. As an organization, Baby Steps empowers pregnant and parenting college students facing an unplanned pregnancy at Auburn University to have their education and their baby by providing housing, support, and community.

If you would like to donate to the Pentecost offering this year, you may do so by putting a check or envelope in the offering plate marked "Pentecost" or by donating online at www.fpcauburn.org/give and choosing the "special offering" option.

Join us for food and fellowship on Wednesday, May 15 before our congregational meals team takes a break for the summer! We will be having a cookout (meal served in Baird Hall) and you do not need to bring anything except your appetite. Food will be served until 6pm for any who are coming straight from work.

Join us Saturday, May 11 from 9am-12pm (or anytime in between!) to serve at the Community Market of East Alabama. If you have never come before, this is a fun way to contribute to a very important ministry in our community. Children of all ages may participate as well (kids under 12 - bring a grown up with you!) Sign up here to participate

VBS registration is now open!!!

This summer we are doing VBS a little differently. We will still be offering four amazing days of VBS but instead of all in one week, we are offering two days in June and two days in July! Choose one, two, three, or all four days! There is a place on the registration form to indicate which days your child can attend. We are hoping this will allow more of our kiddos to participate.

The dates are Sundays, June 16, June 30, July 14, and July 28 from 4-7pm.

We will meet several times in June and July. (Exact meeting dates and times will be determined by the availability of those interested in participating.)

PCM Assists 105 Families During First Quarter

The Presbyterian Community Ministry (PCM) provided financial and home repair and renovation assistance to 105 Lee County families during the first quarter of this year.

Total income for the quarter was $40,216; expenses were $56,488. Income included $13,462 from membership dues; $14,035 from federal funds for home repair; and $6,500 from our church’s Outreach Committee. Expenses included about $23,000 for home repairs and about $24,000 for utilities.

Dave was among those whom PCM helped. He found himself raising his two granddaughters alone after his wife and daughter died in an auto accident. Without his wife’s earnings and with two children to support, he struggled financially. PCM helped to ease his financial burden and to find additional resources for help. When Mina’s social security check wouldn’t stretch far enough for her to fill her propane tank for the winter, PCM paid to fill the tank to heat her home and water. When Clem, who suffers from COPD, couldn’t pay a large power bill from his small social security disability check, PCM helped him pay the bill just hours before his power was to be disconnected.

Donations of any amount from our church members are always welcome. Those who wish to make a gift to PCM should send their checks to PCM, 143 East Thach Avenue, Auburn, AL 36830. Those wishing to become individual annual members ($250) or family members ($300) should send their checks to the same address.
