Session Notes
During its March meetings, the Session . . .
• learned that the church’s income for February was $59,031; expenses, $66,575; and net income, $7,544; for year-to-date (January and February), income was $144,600; expenses, $115,228, and net income, $29,373;
• examined and received members of the confirmation class as new members: Madison Dimick, Ezra Hall, Lilia Hall, Jackson Jolly, Alex Moore, Amy Schwartz, Ann Baldwin Wisdom, and Gwynn Yost;
• approved the baptism of Jackson Jolly, a confirmand, at the 11:00 a.m. service on March 31 (Easter);
• received four new members, Barry Burkhart and Dan Schwartz, both by reaffirmation of faith, and Nathan and Katy Hall, both by transfer of membership;
• learned about the city’s Gay Street Project which will widen the Gay Street sidewalk on the east side of the church property, rebuild a retaining wall near the Gay Street entrance to the church, remove all trees on the east side of the church, regrade the church’s lawn on the east side of the sanctuary and plant new trees there; the church will work on the front entrance to the church to address accessibility from the curb to the front steps;
• heard a report on the new AV system in the sanctuary and a recommendation for a budget item to keep the sound system and its electronic parts updated;
• heard a report on our presbytery’s Commission on Ministry (COM) from Rev. Jonathan Yarbrough, pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Wetumpka, and our contact with the COM if we need assistance;
• approved Andrew Messier as a new student resident in one of the church’s apartments for the 2024-25 academic year;
• learned about worship attendance on four Sundays: February 25, 141; March 3, 102; March 10, 113; and March 17, 139; and
• learned that on April 21, 2024, Rev. Nick Reed will be trained to be a commissioner to the General Assembly.
