I grew up in suburban Cleveland Ohio, in the city of Parma. My faith journey began in the Ukrainian Orthodox church until the age of 10, when my mother had some sort of falling out with the church. I then became Lutheran as my mother didn't drive, and it was only a two block walk to church! My father remained a devout Orthodox church member for his entire life. I became Presbyterian by marriage to my wife Cindi. We have two children, Stephanie - a nurse in Lexington, and John - a pastor in Anchorage Kentucky. I have two rambunctious grandsons, Andrew and Burnam (yes, he was named after camp Burnamwood!) I have pastored churches in West Virginia and Kentucky before retiring to become one of the oldest lifeguards in the central Kentucky YMCA system, as well as being a swim instructor, teaching about 40-45 kids a week. I obviously love swimming but enjoy pickle ball as my other sport. My vegetable garden is in the front yard of my house near downtown Lexington, where I have had many wonderful conversations with passersby as well as sharing the harvest with others in my neighborhood and providing fresh produce for one of the feeding programs at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church, which is now considered my home church. Due to an injury sustained decades ago, I am barefoot. Yes, I’ve been affectionately called “The Barefoot Preacher” for quite some time.  I absolutely love getting out and about in different churches as a pulpit supply minister, greeting folks from all over the state! Thank you for welcoming me to your church!
