Trip Experience
Overall Experience
This trip will integrate education and hands-on ministry experience. City on a Hill focuses not only transforming the lives of the people they serve, but also making a long-term transformation in the people they are serving – mutual transformation. Participants will be engaged in developing around four areas: service, compassion, sharing hope, and fostering racial reconciliation.

Some of the Experiences Will Include:

Tour of Milwaukee
Our group will take a driving tour through all four corners of Milwaukee to gain a better understanding of the city and its joys and struggles.

Adopt-A-Block
Caring for people in the community by visiting door to door, connecting with families and neighbors, providing people with needed household items, and offering prayer.

Poverty Simulation
Experience how it feels to live in a community surrounded by wealth, while struggling to feed, shelter, and clothe yourself and your family. Over the course of 40 hours, participants will develop a better understanding of the causes and struggles of poverty, God’s heart for the poor, and some practical steps they can take to help address the issue in urban America or their own communities.

The R3 Workshop
Created in 2006, The R3 Workshop, widely known as Removing Racial Residue, has been strengthening interactions among people of different ethnic groups in organizations all across the metro Milwaukee area. It is laying a foundation to help build more equitable environments – where people of color can be safe, feel comfortable and thrive, and where people across the spectrum can contribute to open and honest relationships and experience the benefits of diversity.

Super Saturday
Super Saturday is an outdoor program City on a Hill offers to hundreds of neighborhood children each week during the summer. The program provides a full afternoon of fun and learning with crafts, music, and interactive games. Super Saturday gives children without many opportunities for wholesome recreation something special to look forward to every week in the summer months.
