Meal Ministry

An update from the Meal Ministry, with special thanks to the new volunteers who came on board recently. Our work continues, and it’s always wonderful to have new folks join with our long-standing crew. If you meant to sign up following our Moment for Mission but let it slip by, it’s not too late. Email Sue Mahurin at [email protected], and she can answer questions you might have or put you on the list right away. Thank you to everyone who works together to make the Meal Ministry possible.
Stephen Ministry

You are my friends ” John 15:14

“What a friend we have in Jesus” is the line to a familiar hymn. “And what a privilege to carry everything to him in prayer,” continues the hymn. Our relationship with Jesus is built on love and comfort. Our Stephen Ministry program is also built on relationships sustained by love and comfort. If you or someone you know could benefit from a Christian caregiver, contact our Stephen Ministry. You can call our confidential voicemail at 615-746-7888 or email [email protected].  Stephen Ministry is a gift to our congregation, and Stephen M inisters are ready to care for you.
College Student Care Packages

Our Keep in Touch Ministry will be sending some “love” to our college students around Valentine’s Day and need updated addresses.  Parents of college students - whether your student has a new address for the spring or not, please send it to Glenda, [email protected], by the end of December. We want to make sure each address is correct, and the easiest way is for you to send it again to verify. Thank you for your help. We love our college students and look forward to reminding them of God’s love.
Pictorial Directories

The new pictorial directories have arrived.  We received a free directory for each family/individual who had their picture taken in addition to purchasing some extras, so we ask that you only take one directory per family/individual. The mobile directory will also be available for all to download soon if you prefer that to the paper copy or in addition to the paper copy. You will be receiving an email in the coming week with more information about the mobile directory. We hope this will help you match names and faces so you can extend hospitality by calling each other by name. Thank you to Barbara Roos and Wayne Barcheski for their leadership on this project, to Dale Roos for the amazing cover photo, and to everyone else who helped with the directory. The directories were available in the narthex the past two Sundays. If you weren’t able to get one, they are now available in the church office.

RideShare Ministry

If you need a ride to worship or other church activity or would like to provide a ride for someone, email [email protected] or call Jane Herron (615-579-7466) or Steve Lewis (615-414-0047). This is a wonderful way to respond to God’s grace and connect with another person in our community in the process.

Wednesday Night Live

December 12- Whether you are a WNL regular or have never attended, join us for our final WNL of 2018. Enjoy fellowship around the table and help us welcome Rev. Lindsey Groves, UKirk Campus Minister for Vanderbilt and Belmont, to lead an interactive session: Y’all, It’s Dark Outside ! She will lead us through exercises to cope with the winter blues during shorter days and colder weather and offer wisdom from her ministry with college students. All are welcome.
Thank you!
We want to thank everyone who makes WNL possible each week. Thank you to our faithful cooks, Nancy Moody, Margaret Roberts, and Lucy Battle. Thank you to Emily Oldham who sets the tables and cleans the kitchen dishes. Thank you to the “kitchen crew” who assist in set up and clean up. And thank you to everyone who joins us each week. WNL is a gift for all who attend.
Service of Light

Thank you to all who attended the Service of Light and to Parker Sellers and Michael Snoddy for the beautiful music. The candlelight gradually filled the sacred space as we each lit candles from the Christ candle. We were then able to place our written prayers under a candle lifting them into God’s light. We hope you will be able to join us next year for this special service.
