Oxfam Hunger Banquet at FPC April 3

Since 1974, Oxfam has been working with volunteers to create awareness of hunger. Oxfam Hunger Banquets give you the opportunity to make a difference, both locally and globally. They are volunteer-led interactive events that bring statistics about poverty to life. Guests randomly select tickets matching real people who are high-, middle-, or low-income earners, demonstrating that where you end up is all in the luck of the draw. Guests receive their meal based off their ticket for the night. These events help increase our power to respond to global crises, highlight issues of injustice, and change the laws that keep people trapped in poverty.
Good Friday Liturgy and Service of Tenebrae
Good Friday Evening, April 19 – 7:30 p.m.

The Biblical narrative surrounds the seven last words of Christ from the cross. Following each reading, a commentary is read and in response to the gathering darkness, a candle is extinguished. Selected movements from Handel’s celebrated Messiah
will accompany this year’s reading and serve as a musical “word”
offered by both choir and soloists.

Youth Silent Auction/Luncheon
It’s that wonderful time of the year…once again the youth of FPC will be hosting their annual Silent Auction and Luncheon. Proceeds from this event will benefit the youth summer mission trips to Memphis and Asheville. Get your thinking caps on, and start those ideas rolling as we will be looking for your donations. Do you know someone who would be willing to donate items for the auction, or do you work for a company that would consider donating? Past donation examples: Tickets to Concerts, Sporting Events or Theatre, Timeshare vacations, Gift Cards or other merchandise? Additionally, one of our most popular sellers are those personal talents and items handcrafted with love. These have included baked goods, paintings, knitting/crochet, babysitting, craft items, personal services and many more…the ideas are truly limitless.

On Sundays, in Wilson Hall between the 8:30 and 11:00am services, our youth will be taking reservations for lunch, as well as collecting donations. Reservations, payment for lunch, and donations can also be delivered to the church office, during normal operating hours. Checks should be made payable to FPC – Note: Youth Auction/Luncheon. Donation Forms should be completed for all donated items and the deadline for donations is Sunday, March 3rd.
Contact Heather Reimer at  heatherreimer@comcast.net  or 630-750-5776 if you have any questions. Thanks in advance for support the youth of FPC.
