New Member Class - November 15th!

Are you interested in learning more about FPC Boise, the Presbyterian Church, or making the move to officially join as a member? Have you wondered if Andrew was ever going to remember to have a new member class? Well, here is your opportunity! Following the second service we will gather in Lindsay Hall with a lunch provided to hear some history, engage some theology, and learn more about each other. You are welcome to attend and not join; you are welcome to attend even if you are already a member! It will be roughly 12:15 - 2:30 pm, and for those who choose to join the church you will be welcomed in membership the following Sunday. RSVP to Andrew at andrew@fpcboise.org.

MOMENT FOR MISSION

“What does the Lord require of you? To do justice and to love kindness

and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

One Great Hour of Sharing is centered in the call to do our part to advocate for justice so every person can truly live the life God intends. The PC(USA), through our General Assembly, has discerned several causes where we are called to embody God’s justice in the world: responding to disaster, alleviating hunger, addressing poverty, confronting climate change, and accompanying immigrants, migrants and refugees. Here are some examples where One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) has answered the call to do justice.

International Response:

In South Sudan, since 2013, catastrophic flooding, conflict, and violence have been destroying the lives and homes of thousands. RECONCILE International, a partner of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) based in South Sudan, works to promote reconciliation, transformation, and peacebuilding in shattered communities. This assistance program brings people together to listen, to restore and rebuild lives that have been devastated by natural disasters and conflict. Through mediation, disputes are

resolved before they become violent. Families who have refused to speak to one another have begun working together again and young people who were vulnerable to violence are becoming ambassadors for peace.

National Response:

In Lincoln Nebraska, 23 faith communities, including Eastridge Presbyterian Church, received training from the Presbyterian Hunger Project and founded Justice in Action, a mission to “Harness the power of organized people to address big community problems.” Through these efforts, they addressed the pre-eviction mediation process in their area to better determine and lessen the root causes of eviction.

Donations can be made directly to the Presbyterian Church USA Click Here or to FPC through online donations or cash or check contributions through the giving box. Please mark giving for OGHS.

If we all do a little, it adds up to a lot!
