I pray that each of you are healthy and well. Each day's numbers have made me increasingly concerned about the ongoing pandemic. I hope that you are continuing to wear a mask, maintain social distance, and stay home as much as possible. If there are ways your church family can support you, please let me know.
Remember that the Non-Sale is happening at the Gotts' home this week. There are additional time slots available on Thursday morning 9-1 and Friday afternoon 1-5. There are still some great items available! If you haven't been yet, I encourage you to do so! (For more information see below).
This week I am celebrating my two year anniversary of serving alongside you. I couldn't be more serious in saying, "Time flies when you're having fun." I can hardly believe that I've been here two years already! I am grateful for each of YOU and for our shared ministry together. It's an honor to be one of your pastors. I look forward to what God has in store for us in the future!

Dear Members of FPCR,
I wanted to give you a quick update on my recent knee replacement and to thank you for your prayers, phone calls, cards, e-mails, texts, delicious food, and various tasty treats. My fridge has plenty of good food to sustain me for a few more weeks. My surgery went very well and I'm told by my physical therapist that my rehab is right on track. The workouts are not easy as many of you know but I'm glad to see steady improvement each week. Your prayers have truly sustained and encouraged me and I ask that you continue to keep me in your prayers as I continue to rehab the next four weeks. Though COVID 19 keeps us physically apart please know that you are a part of my heart and that I sense your presence each and every day.
Grace and Peace,
Ralph

Next week several of our children (including some out of town grandchildren) will explore Deep Roots, New Leaves, our "Camp In A Box" VBS alternative for 2020. Each child received a box with a week's worth of scripture lessons and activities for each day, centered around the message that God is always doing a new thing. Families are encouraged to send us photos of their week that we'll share with you.
To wrap up the week, on Friday evening (July 17) from 6:30-7:00 p.m. we'll have a closing Vespers service via Zoom.
Register in advance for the meeting here.
Everyone in the congregation is welcome to join the Zoom gathering. There will be a campfire and some songs, so get in your summer camp mode and gather round with us on Friday evening!

It's time for Tools for School! Because of the Pandemic the Mission Ministry will not be able to sort and deliver the supplies as usual so we have decided to support the Network with their efforts to distribute 1200-1400 pre-made supply packs at a cost of $20-$25 each. They are asking for cash donations. If you would like to donate, make out a check to First Presbyterian Church and note that it
is for Tools for School.
Mail to: P.O. Box 831985 , Richardson, Texas 75083.
We will collect checks through August 7th.
Thank you !

Clerk's Corner
June 30, 2020
Happy Summer!
At this month's Session meeting, we issued commendations to Harry & Lea Perkins for their faithful and valued work as Co-Treasurers for the past several years. As of June, Sara Godecke and Janice Fandrick are the new Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, respectively. We're grateful to all of them for their financial acumen and guidance! We also commended Jeanne Stone, Jan Warner, and Wayne Geyer for their creative and generous work on David's Sabbatical Send-Off.
Speaking of finances, the budget continues to be in good shape overall. A couple of facility issues are on the horizon that will need to be addressed: aging & broken sewer lines in a few locations (both the CE building and the "West Wing") that need replacement, and some air conditioning work in the Chapel and Ernst Hall. Cost and work plan estimates are being gathered. More to come on these items!
The next date for communion is August 2. Watch for more details in the ePress about some new ways to help strengthen our connection to each other while we celebrate the Lord's Supper.
The Session is also spending some time in discernment about how to consider and respond to the turmoil the country is experiencing regarding racial justice. There are several denominational and presbytery resources we have available to inform our thinking as well as other recommended reading. It's an issue for us all to be praying about and pondering.
Questions? Ask me!
