Back in early March, my husband and I excitedly poked seeds down into the soil of our first garden. We had no idea what was coming, but I'm grateful that we spent the time tilling, planting, and watering those seeds, because they are bearing lots and lots of fruit!
These days, we're swimming in tomatoes. We've made tomato pie, tomato sauce, caprese salad, and so on. The joy of the harvest is making these difficult days feel just a little brighter. Each time we pull a ripe tomato off the vine, I am giddy all over again.
What have you been giddy about lately? How have you rejoiced in the small things? What seeds (real and metaphorical) are growing and bearing fruit in your life? I hope that God will show you a glimpse of joy this week, and that the harvest will be bountiful.
In peace,
Pastor Jessie

DRIVE-THRU FOOD DRIVE
Thursday, July 23
9:30 -11:30 am
We are excited to host our drive-thru food drive again for Network of Community Ministries. Your donations are making an incredible difference for so many who are struggling.
The no-touch protocol for drop off remains the same: drive through FPCR's porte cochere, pop your trunk or back hatch, and volunteers will gather the food from your vehicle. Do not get out of the car.
Network needs: peanut butter, baking items, oatmeal, cereal, canned veggies and soup, Hamburger Helper, ravioli,
Spaghetti O's, ramen, hand soap, body wash, TP, baby food, and toothbrushes/paste.
The chart below shows the impact Network has had
on so many families in need.

It's time for Tools for School! Because of the Pandemic the Mission Ministry will not be able to sort and deliver the supplies as usual so we have decided to support the Network with their efforts to distribute 1200-1400 pre-made supply packs at a cost of $20-$25 each. They are asking for cash donations. If you would like to donate:
- Make out a check to First Presbyterian Church and note Tools 4 School. Mail to: P.O. Box 831985, Richardson, Texas 75083.
- OR click below for the FPCR online giving and designate to Missions.
We will collect money through August 7th.
Thank you for being a blessing!

This week is our final conversation on "Anxious to Talk About It" by Dr. Carolyn B. Helsel. Our discussions have been lively, interesting, challenging, and vulnerable, and we look forward to telling you more about what we've discussed and what these lessons might mean for the church.
Look out for more soon!
