August 12, 2020

One of the things I have missed most throughout the last few months is seeing people in person! I miss your faces!

Thankfully, there are two face-to-face opportunities in the next few days, in which we can see each other safely.

Tomorrow morning, from 9:30-11:30, we'll be hosting the food drive for the Network of Community Ministries.

And then, on Saturday morning, 10:00-noon, we'll be having "Blessing of the Backpacks." This isn't just for families with children or youth, but for everyone. Drive through the porte cochere to receive a "backpack blessing" if you're headed back to school or a "refrigerator reminder" to pray for those families who are embarking on a different and challenging school year. And did I mention there will be snow cones in the parking lot, too?!

Come and show your support for our children, youth, and families. Be sure to RSVP by clicking here.

I'm so looking forward to "seeing" you!

Peace,

Pastor Rosy

PS. We extended the deadline for t-shirts and yard signs. Get your order in by Sunday.

Are you headed back to school soon? Drop by between 10:00 and noon, and drive through the porte cochere for a special back-to-school blessing. Then, park your car in a designated spot. We'll have the Kona Ice truck on campus and we'll enjoy some fellowship time together at a safe distance from one another.

Other FPCR members and friends are also invited to participate! Drive thru the porte cochere and be "commissioned" to pray for children, parents, caregivers, and teachers in the monumental challenges of pandemic schooling. You'll receive a refrigerator-reminder to take home.

More details to come, but if you'd like to take part, please RSVP by clicking here. (We want to make sure we have plenty of snow cones!)

Spirituality of Breadmaking
 Tuesday, August 18 & 25
7 p.m. via Zoom

Yeast. Flour. Water. Salt. These simple ingredients come together to form one of life's simplest and most delicious joys: bread. Join Pastor Jessie for a 3 week short-term series on the Spirituality of Breadmaking. Jessie loves to bake bread- sourdough, specifically- and in these three weeks, we will talk together about the ways in which baking bread can connect us to God and one another. All are welcome!  Click here to pre-register.
DRIVE-THRU FOOD DRIVE
Thursday, August 13
9:30 -11:30 am

We are excited to host our drive-thru food drive again for Network of Community Ministries.  Your donations are making an incredible difference for so many who are struggling right now.

The no-touch protocol for drop off remains the same: drive through FPCR's porte cochere, pop your trunk or back hatch, and volunteers will gather the food from your vehicle. Do not get out of the car. Network especially needs soups, canned meats, canned vegetables, rice, beans, peanut butter, and jellies.

Thank you for your faithfulness in giving to those in need!

We are in the midst of planning for the fall and are looking into the possibility of a weekly Bible study via Zoom. All you'll need is a Bible. Optional prep work is to read over a brief weekly article from the Presbyterian Outlook (Looking Into the Lectionary). We'll reference the article some during our time together.

Don't be Scammed!
Scammers are hard at work even during a pandemic!

An FPCR member's email has been hacked.  Please be aware:
  • If you receive an email from any church member, staff, or anyone outside of the church asking for financial help or gift cards of any kind, please know that it is a scam.  FPCR staff or members would never use email for something like that.  It is best to not even respond so the scammer doesn't try to hack your email too!!
  • If you should get an email that you are unsure of, you can always verify the email it was sent from at the top of the email.  More than likely it will be a slightly different email address than the one you have on file for someone you know.

Online Gatherings - Every Friday at Noon
