August 2020 - Updates from the Forever Parks Foundation
Hello Friends of the Forever Parks Foundation,

This month can often be the most challenging to be a proud Texan. With rising temperatures and humidity, enjoying our outdoors is often a more sweaty adventure. We do hope all of you are enjoying when you can and staying safe and hydrated in your outdoor adventures.

Pearland Parks and Recreation Department Summer Programming
The Parks and Recreation Department continues to amaze us with all of the creative programming they provide as we navigate not only the dog days of summer but also the continued social distancing protocols to manage Covid-19 community spread. If you haven't already had a chance, one of the newest events is "Sunset Cinema." Located in the parking lot of the Pearland Recreation Center, this pop-up drive-in theater open on Friday nights has screened such hits like Guardians of the Galaxy and The Lion King. If you are interested, please follow the Parks and Recreation Facebook page to get tickets and learn more about the next showing!

Inclusive Playground Update
We appreciate all the support and feedback that we've heard throughout the summer on the elements of an Inclusive Playground. We are excited to share more with you soon as our design team has been working in the background to work with us to determine the best theme that represents our wonderful city and build an initial design that encompasses all the feedback. Stay tuned to our FPF Facebook page to see more soon!

DFNC - Educational Pond
The Educational Pond got some new trimmings earlier this summer when the Pearland Rotary Club had a socially distant work day volunteering their time to complete landscaping. Thanks to the hard working volunteers, the Educational Pond is now surrounded by native plants and trees chosen by the Dolores Fenwick Nature Center staff. If you haven't yet had a chance to check it out, please grab some water and see it!
Thank you for your Support!
We had a wonderful response to the "Nature is Not Cancelled" t-shirt campaign! We were overwhelmed with the positive response and all money raised will be going to support our FPF goals including the Educational Pond and the Inclusive Playground. We hope all of you that ordered are enjoying your new look!

Continue to stay safe and stay well and we hope to see you on the trails soon!
