Dear friends,
With 2020 in full swing, I'd like to give you an update on what we've recently achieved, and a preview of what you can expect to see from us over the next several months.
Looking back on 2019, we established 24 projects pledging to create 2,074 jobs, and made 7 project referrals to communities. Thank you so much for your continued support, which has helped make us successful in moving Florida forward.
In FPLOED news, I am excited to announce our team’s new strategic focus on our
new target sectors for lead generation, which you can read more about below. This announcement has been a long time coming, and we are excited for the potential projects these sectors present.
Speaking of potential, Florida's growth prospects have never looked better. In fact, Florida greeted the largest numbers of U-Haul trucks entering its borders than exiting them, rendering Florida the #1 growth state for the first time in four years. And among the states with no income tax and no tax on dividends and interest, Florida accounted for 45% of home sales through November 2019. This net migration is providing an economic boost to the state, according to the IRS. T
he Sunshine State was $12.5 billion ahead of the next strongest state, Arizona, in benefiting from migration. Underscoring this news is
The Tax Foundation's recent 2020 State Business Tax Climate Index
, with Florida ranked #4 Best Tax Climate behind Wyoming, South Dakota and Alaska.
We are excited to embark on this new chapter with you all. We look forward to continuing to partner with you and provide businesses one-of-a-kind expertise and support including affordable and reliable energy.
Please let us know how we can further support your efforts.
Best regards,

New FPLOED Target Sectors
|
|
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new target sectors for lead generation! We created these sectors to provide additional leadership and value in the communities we serve. We chose them after detailed analysis of state, regional and local economic development targets, through the lens of high-growth industries that are also energy intensive.

|
As part of our targeted sector roll out, we launched our
new industry pages on
PoweringFlorida.com.
Our new target sectors have also been incorporated into the Location Factor Matching tool, which FPL created and allows users to view how their communities' assets compare to the critical location factors of projects in specific sectors. This tool is accessible through the
PoweringFlorida Resource Center.
