Etiology and Pharmacology of Neuropathic Pain
FPN Etiology
Many patients with peripheral neuropathy experience neuropathic pain. Its true prevalence is unknown, but it is estimated that about 100-500 million patients are living with neuropathic pain worldwide. Treatment of neuropathic pain is also challenging and available medications are not very effective.

Read more about a recent medical review that sheds more light on neuropathic pain.
National Peripheral Neuropathy Awareness Week is
May 6-12, 2018

We need your help to raise the profile of peripheral neuropathy and the work that FPN is doing to advance research for better treatments for YOU - our patients, care givers and practitioners.

To start the week, one of our own dedicated staff members organized a way for locals to support our mission and get their hearts pumping. A charity workout at Orangetheory, Mt. Prospect, Illinois on May 6, 2018 at 11:30am. Cost of the class is $25, with all proceeds going to FPN. Sign up here.
Not in the Chicagoland area but think this is a great idea and want to plan a fundraising event near you? Contact us and we can help get you started!

Watch our website and open your emails for more details about National Peripheral Neuropathy Awareness Week and how you can help raise awareness.

It's Time to Call Attention to Peripheral Neuropathy!
Call Attention to PN
An estimated 30 million Americans have peripheral neuropathy. Yet it is still the "secret disease": people haven't heard of it, are under reporting about it, and, even more sadly, not focusing on it for research for treatments and cures.

If you know someone in public relations, national broadcast or print media, or who are social media experts, please let us know!   You will be helping the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy be a louder voice for the millions of patients with peripheral neuropathy and to get it the attention it deserves.

Contact Nancy Frohman at nancy@tffpn.org if you have recommendations.
Small Study Offers Hope to Patients with Small Fiber Neuropathy
FPN Small Study Offer Hope to Patients
A recent German study followed 12 patients diagnosed with idiopathic small fiber neuropathy over a period of time, ranging from 2.5- 14 years, to make some determination on the prognosis of the condition over time. In this study, they were able to show that the majority of patients remained stable with no change in their pain control or any reduction in their quality of life.
