Information for PRS providers working with Haitian UC

For PRS providers working with Haitian or Cuban unaccompanied children, ORR requests that you make these children and their sponsors aware of the following link:

This webpage provides information on certain benefits and services available to Cuban and Haitian entrants into the United States (Cuban/Haitian entrants are defined as Cuban or Haitian nationals who have been: 1) granted parole as a Cuban/ Haitian Entrant, 2) in removal proceedings; or 3) with an application for asylum pending). Please refer to the webpage for additional details on eligibility, benefits and services available, and how Cuban and Haitian entrants can access those benefits. Note that the benefits and services are only available for a limited time from an individual’s date of eligibility, so your assistance in helping to disseminate this information in a timely manner to the Cuban and Haitian children and sponsors with whom you are working is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Discussion on labor trafficking presentation for ORR HS/PRS grantees (pre-recorded) - Thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s joint webinar on Labor Trafficking, held on March 1, 2022 between the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP), and the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator.

As a recap, some topics covered during the webinar included:
  • An overview of services and resources available at OTIP and how to get in contact;
  • How human trafficking networks operate;
  • Stages of trafficking and how to identify the signs (overview of the Human Trafficking Enterprise Model);
  • Prevention (how to minimize labor trafficking in the supply chain); and
  • Available resources should you believe you have identified a possible case of human trafficking.

If you could not make the webinar or wish to view it again, please find a link to the recording here; password - w4E$7S%p

Child Maltreatment during the Pandemic (March 17th, 1pm-2pm EST) - COVID–19 created unique and unprecedented challenges for children and families. APSAC collaborated with UCLA Health and The Rape Foundation to create a 2-minute video with Jennifer Garner and Pastor Darrell Armstrong to heighten awareness about the vulnerable children who may have suffered maltreatment during the pandemic while they were isolated from usual sources of help. Join us in this zoom chat to learn more about the issue, view the video, share and discuss ways to help these children now, and identify resources available to support your work. Register here!

Afghan Arrivals: SIV Screenings, Applications and Asylum Webinar (March 21st, 3pm EST) - Afghan arrivals are in need of immigration legal assistance. Some may be eligible for Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) and SIV immigration status. We anticipate that many will need to file asylum claims for their next immigration step. This does not directly relate to task to be completed by PRS case managers, but does inform them of the options and process for afghan arrivals.
