New! Fort Myers CRA Discusses Downtown Expansion


On Wednesday, the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency discussed an expansion of the area they oversee.


They want to add 505 acres to their already existing 540 acres of coverage, including the Altamont Park neighborhood, parts of midtown, Central South and a portion of Dean Park.


The Community Redevelopment Agency board said people should get excited. This plan, which has not been approved yet, shows that residents will see an expansion of downtown.

New! Margate Advances City Center Redevelopment, Shortlists 4 Developers


Progress is beginning to move forward on the City Center redevelopment project.

The board agreed to a shortlist of potential developers during the September 30 Margate Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting.


The development companies under consideration include Brookfield Properties, Michaels, Related Group and Kenco Communities. Board members, who are also the Margate commission, discussed the companies and what they could offer the city.


Margate leaders want to create a mixed-use development on the 50-acre area at the corner of Margate Blvd and State Road 7. It will be a new downtown that will attract new residents and be a destination with restaurants and stores.

New! Downtown Conversion: Art Deco Bank to Italian-Style Steakhouse - Lakeland CRA


A former CEO of the Shula Restaurant Group plans to convert the historic Florida National Bank building in downtown Lakeland into Prima 135, an upscale steakhouse. To help make the plan a reality, the building’s owner is seeking $195,000 in incentives from the Lakeland Community Redevelopment Agency.


Prima 135 is envisioned as an elegant establishment that “will fill a niche in the market for a higher-end steakhouse with an Italian flair,” according to Bill Freeman, the entrepreneur behind the project. He says he hopes Prima 135 can open by the end of next year.

Deerfield Beach Receives $3.3M Grant for Sawgrass to Seagrass Center at Sullivan Park


On September 21, 2024, the City of Deerfield Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, broke ground on the 8.1 million dollar Capital Redevelopment Project, the Sawgrass to Seagrass Center at Sullivan Park. This project also received a generous 3.3 million dollar grant from FIND (Florida Inland Navigation District), which will fund a portion of the construction of the marine science museum portion of the center.

Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA) Secures Partnership with Chihuly Studios - Lake Worth CRA


The City of Lake Worth Beach, the Lake Worth Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA) is pleased to announce that a partnership with the Chihuly Studio of Seattle has been reached to bring a permanent art installation and immersive Chihuly experience to WMODA in the City of Lake Worth Beach.


The proposed WMODA Project, currently being considered by the City and CRA, entails the construction of a 33,000-square-foot museum dedicated to the Fired Arts. Through his continued relationship with Dale Chihuly, Arthur Wiener, WMODA’s benefactor, has secured a commitment from the Chihuly Studio to partner with the Museum to create a new cultural experience in Lake Worth Beach that promises to captivate the imagination of residents and visitors alike. As one of only eight other permanent Chihuly exhibitions in the World, WMODA Lake Worth Beach would now enter the realm of being an international destination for lovers of the fired arts and Chihuly in particular.

New Cornerstone Apartment Complex Is 85 Percent Occupied - Coral Springs CRA


Modera Coral Springs, the new apartment complex at the Cornerstone development, is nearing full occupancy.


“The apartments are 85 percent occupied, which is great,” Kristi Bartlett, economic development director for the city of Coral Springs, said at last week’s Coral Springs Community Redevelopment Agency meeting.


She was referring to the complex’s south tower at the southwest corner of University Drive and Sample Road, which has 351 apartments.
