New! Deerfield Beach Receives $3.3M Grant for Sawgrass to Seagrass Center at Sullivan Park

On September 21, 2024, the City of Deerfield Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, broke ground on the 8.1 million dollar Capital Redevelopment Project, the Sawgrass to Seagrass Center at Sullivan Park. This project also received a generous 3.3 million dollar grant from FIND (Florida Inland Navigation District), which will fund a portion of the construction of the marine science museum portion of the center.

New! Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA) Secures Partnership with Chihuly Studios - Lake Worth CRA

The City of Lake Worth Beach, the Lake Worth Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA) is pleased to announce that a partnership with the Chihuly Studio of Seattle has been reached to bring a permanent art installation and immersive Chihuly experience to WMODA in the City of Lake Worth Beach.

The proposed WMODA Project, currently being considered by the City and CRA, entails the construction of a 33,000-square-foot museum dedicated to the Fired Arts. Through his continued relationship with Dale Chihuly, Arthur Wiener, WMODA’s benefactor, has secured a commitment from the Chihuly Studio to partner with the Museum to create a new cultural experience in Lake Worth Beach that promises to captivate the imagination of residents and visitors alike. As one of only eight other permanent Chihuly exhibitions in the World, WMODA Lake Worth Beach would now enter the realm of being an international destination for lovers of the fired arts and Chihuly in particular.

New! New Cornerstone Apartment Complex Is 85 Percent Occupied - Coral Springs CRA

Modera Coral Springs, the new apartment complex at the Cornerstone development, is nearing full occupancy.

“The apartments are 85 percent occupied, which is great,” Kristi Bartlett, economic development director for the city of Coral Springs, said at last week’s Coral Springs Community Redevelopment Agency meeting.

She was referring to the complex’s south tower at the southwest corner of University Drive and Sample Road, which has 351 apartments.

Eatonville’s Historic Club Eaton Set for Restoration, Reviving Cultural Landmark – Eatonville CRA

For over six decades, Club Eaton was a vibrant hub where Eatonville residents gathered for nights of dancing and live music.

The club, which opened in 1946 during segregation, hosted legendary entertainers such as James Brown and Aretha Franklin.

Although the doors closed in 2008, plans are underway to restore the historic venue thanks to a state grant aimed at preserving Eatonville’s cultural history.

Reshaping the Future of MLK Boulevard, Fort Myers CRA Holds Public Workshop

The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is set to engage Fort Myers residents in shaping the future of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and surrounding areas through a series of public workshops.

Michele Hylton-Terry, executive director of the Fort Myers CRA, emphasized the importance of public participation.

“We are asking residents for their input to help prioritize what matters most to our community and local businesses,” Hylton-Terry said. “Similar to our Cleveland Avenue plan sessions, this process will ensure that the redevelopment reflects the needs and desires of those who live and work here.”

Ribbon Cutting for Columbia Gardens – Tallahassee CRA

The promise of affordable housing has dawned on the capital’s south side as the Tallahassee Housing Authority officially cut the ribbon on Columbia Gardens at South City.

Columbia Gardens is now where the Orange Avenue Apartments, built in 1972, once stood. That property had fallen into disrepair and the authority orchestrated a massive redevelopment. Several years ago, the agency provided its master plan to demolish and rebuild the property.

Teresa Boyd, one of many residents who were displaced because of the construction, spoke of the new amenities she and other guests have been enjoying in the gated community: a pool, patios, new appliances, and more.

The complex also boasts an exercise room, classrooms, a playground, a business center, community rooms and grilling areas.
