FRC July/August Newsletter
Message From The Director

As an exciting summer draws to a close we look forward to the return of the students into our midst. This past month has been a transformative one at the FRC. In addition to our normal shutdown for cleaning, we have also replaced the fieldhouse floor and repaved and improved our parking lot. Your patience and understanding during this time has been greatly appreciated.

The start of the academic year is always an exciting time on campus. Along with the natural injection of vibrancy that the students bring, the pace of activities picks up dramatically. From a new group fitness schedule (more details below), to team use of the court spaces, to the Physical Health Education (PHE) classes - high volume PHE days for track use are Friday, 9/6 and Monday, 9/9 - the FRC will soon be abuzz with activity.

Below in this newsletter you'll find information about the fieldhouse and facility schedule, our After School and Group Fitness programs, the new locker rental option, swim lessons and tread-a-thon programming, and information about exercising for brain health for national Alzheimer's month. I hope you'll find something that captivates you.

I wish you a safe and pleasant Labor Day, and hope to see you at the FRC in the coming days, weeks, and months!

Best,
Ben

September is National Alzheimer's Month
Imagine, if you can, what it would be like not to recognize the most important people in your life. Among many other symptoms, Alzheimer's robs a person of their recollections, and is the 5th leading cause of death in the US for those aged 65 and over. Healthy living - exercise and a proper diet - can help combat the disease and its devastating effects. Read on to see what you can do to help prevent Alzheimer's and other cognitive impairments.
