2025 STAR Volunteer

The Family Resource Center is so proud to announce the recipient of our 2025 Katie Dempsey STAR Volunteer Award, Braden Keith! This award is the highest honor that can be given to an FRC volunteer, and it is reserved for a person who has substantially advanced our mission or made us stronger as an organization.

Braden currently serves on our Board of Directors as the Marketing Chair. Through his experience as a local small business owner, he has donated his technical abilities to revamp our website and grow our social media presence, developed a marketing guide, and has brought more structure to our efforts to tell our story more effectively -- all key to effective fundraising. Braden is thoughtful, compassionate, easy to talk with, dependable, and focused. He sees the big picture and is committed to children and families.

CAP Month Recap

April was Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Rome community put together an amazing show of support. We kicked off the month with our Pinwheel Planting, joining forces with presenting sponsors Atrium Health Floyd/Harbin Clinic to plant several hundred blue pinwheels representing child abuse prevention awareness. Following the pinwheel planting was a series of community events with partnering agencies throughout the month. A Family Success Story

Last year alone, the Family Resource Center provided 3,687 hours of service, our families increased their engagement time with us to an average of 8 months, and 66% of referred families successfully completed our program! With your support, stories like this become possible, families become successful, and communities grow stronger!

Jim Bishop Memorial Golf Tournament

The Jim Bishop "Tee Off Against Child Abuse" Golf Tournament is set for May 9th. We have 18 teams coming out to play the 4-person scramble, and it's sure to be a great day once again. Special thanks to our presenting sponsors, Hampton Inn of Rome and The Spires at Berry College, as well as our Gold and Silver Sponsors listed here. We would also like to thank Chick-fil-A for generously donating lunch for the event. We look forward to seeing your teams on the course next week for this outstanding annual fundraiser!

Helping Hands

Recently, we've had two groups help to supply and organize our supply closet. Rhea Lana's of Cartersville contributed a large supply of maternity clothes, Second Avenue Baptist Church made a generous donation of diapers and baby care items, and finally, Darlington Middle School Capstone students spent a morning organizing the new donations, cleaning out older items, and shopping for additional needed supplies. We are so grateful to each of these groups for helping us to keep our supplies for families stocked and ready to go!

Community Support

Special thanks to Jessica Bowles with Georgia Family Dentistry and Aesthetics for training our staff on dental care for young children and for the donation of toothpaste and toothbrushes.

We would also like to recognize Business Water Solutions of Rome for being our Family Resource Center water provider and for generously donating the office cooler.
