Partner Spotlight
Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida

FRC Contact: Susan Block

Mission: The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida's (ELC of SWFL) mission is to enhance the quality of children’s lives by providing families, early childhood educators, caregivers, and community partners in Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee Counties with opportunities to positively impact the future.

Why does the Early Learning Coalition participate in FRC? The ELC of SWFL participates in FRC because their work supports our mission to prepare children to be ready for school. Our strong relationship with Collier County Public Schools helps the ELC to deliver a message to childcare and private VPK programs that is consistent with the district’s expectations for children entering kindergarten. Over time, we expect that our shared work will improve readiness rates which impacts the long-term success of children during their formal education and creates a foundation for career success.

The ELC of SWFL is largely funded by the Florida Department of Education, Division of Early Learning. Coalitions were created to provide services at the local level to ensure children are ready for school and parents have childcare in order to go to work and/or go to school. Overall, early learning has an impact on education and the economy. Without early learning programs, families wouldn’t have the childcare necessary to go to work.
If you are interested in hearing more about how early learning impacts the economy, please register to join us at our Business Breakfast, Friday, August 5, 2022, 7:00 am, Broadway Palms Theater in Fort Myers. The link to registration is found at the website.

Congratulations to Collier County Public Schools!
Future Ready Collier offers its congratulations to the Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) on again being awarded an “A” rating from the Florida Department of Education. While ratings were paused during the pandemic, CCPS has otherwise received A-level ratings consecutively since 2017. Among the top five districts throughout the state of Florida, CCPS is consistently acknowledged for its performance, supporting students across distinct areas of measurement.
The first day of school is only a couple of weeks away! This is a great time to remind families that all student, Kindergarten through 12th grade, NEW to the District must be registered using the Online Centralized Registration system. Any student returning to the District (the student did not attend CCPS last year) must also register using the Online Centralized Registration system.
