Avow Kids
Mission: Avow Kids has been providing bereavement services for children ages 5-17 years old for more than 39 years. Offering support and companionship to children who are grieving the loss of a parent, sibling, friend, or relative through illness, accident, suicide or homicide, Avow also helps children process other types of loss including divorce, loss of a friend, instability in the foster care system, deployed parents in the military, or incarcerated parents and family members.
Why is Avow Kids involved in FRC?
The future of our community is only as strong as the next generations. As a direct services provider, Avow Kids understands how local connections support our mission of delivering quality bereavement and grief support to children in our community.
Did you know?
Avow Kids offers support in the form of in-school workshops, individual one-on-one sessions, family groups, day and overnight camps and special activities. All Avow Kids services are offered without charge and are presented online and/or in-person.

Community Input Requested
2022-23 Collier Community Assessment
|
|
|
In 2018, a Collier County Community Assessment provided information about the strengths of our community, and identified areas of greatest need, leading to many initiatives that would not have happened without the input of our community. such as:
- Greater emphasis on and increased funding in early learning
- The launch of the private/public housing initiative to increase attainable housing for essential workers on the Golden Gate golf course
- Increased awareness of and funding for both mental health supports, and career and technical education
After five years, it’s time to take a new snapshot of Collier County—of gains that have been made and remaining gaps.
The assessment process, again in partnership with Q-Q Research Consultants, will use the same components: research and data, focus groups and surveys. Community partners will again include local funders, including the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation (RMSFF) and the Collier Community Foundation.
Community member feedback is very important, and we are encouraging widespread participation in the survey. The survey opened on Monday, November 14th, and will be open through March 2023. In order to provide that broad perspective, Collier County residents 18+ years are encouraged to complete it, whether they are full time or seasonal. The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Creole and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Click here to take the survey.

To achieve our goals of helping all kindergarteners enter school ready, all high schoolers graduate with a plan, and all students thrive on their journey between those milestones, we regularly create and collect resources of value to local families and students, our network partners, and the public.
