Mission: We provide transformative in-home education and support to Floyd County families, empowering them to create safe, stable and nurturing homes so that their children can grow and thrive.

Vision: Floyd County parents with children birth to 12 years will have the parenting and life skills they need to provide safe and nurturing homes for their children.

SAFE SLEEP TOUR

Nationally, more than 3,500 infants a year, without a prior known illness or injury, die suddenly and unexpectedly. In Rome, 12 children have died since 2015 because they were not in a safe sleep space. The FRC is working with the Rome/Floyd Commission on Children and Youth, Department of Public Health, and the Floyd County Child Abuse Protocol Committee to raise awareness about the ABCs of Safe Sleep by hosting a “Safe Sleep Tour”. Our goal is to have zero preventable infant deaths due to unsafe sleep by spreading awareness about safe sleep and safe sleep environments through proper education and resources. Know the ABCs of Safe Sleep video tells how to keep a napping or sleeping baby safe. If your business would like to host the tour for 1-2 weeks, please reach out to [email protected] .

HELP A FAMILY AT CHRISTMAS

Last year the FRC and community partners helped 27 families with 57 children have a brighter Christmas morning! In the “Adopt-a-Family” program, sponsors can choose to do the shopping with a list we provide or can send a monetary gift between now and December and allow our Parent Aides to do the shopping with the parents.

To participate in this program, please contact Kathy Phillips at 706-290-0764 and let us know how many children you would like to sponsor (i.e. what size family).

Our inaugural Pickleball Tournament was a BIG success and will become an annual event! Nineteen teams participated and raised almost $2300 for the FRC. We appreciate the hard work of Leanne Mann, Downtown Rome Tennis Center Manager, and John Fortune, Event Chair. We also thank our presenting sponsor, the Americanism Committee from the Exchange Club of Rome. (Pictured is Bill King, Committee Chair, presenting $1000 to Tina Bartleson and John Fortune).

Special thanks to Second Avenue Baptist Church for a “Second Mile” gift to the FRC of $500. These funds will be used to purchase emergency supplies and especially to purchase items to help families when they receive a COVID diagnosis (e.g. PowerAde, fruit, soups, games to occupy quarantined children, vitamins/medicine, emergency food).

The FRC meets weekly for 1-2 hours with families enrolled in our Exchange Parent Aide program. That adds up to a lot of direct service! We love making home visits because it lets us understand the family---their strength, their challenges, their needs---so much better! Home visits lets us truly tailor our program to meet the needs of the family….and this helps families create safe, stable and nurturing homes for their children.

IT'S SOCA TIME AGAIN!

Strike Out Child Abuse is our annual bowling tournament. This year our event is presented by Synovus Bank and we are a go for November 2^nd. Our event is intentionally a bit smaller than normal (15 teams vs 24 teams) to help us provide a safer evening for our bowlers. We appreciate everyone’s support for one of our favorite events and look forward to being back at a “full house” for this event in 2022.
