Trauma-Informed Care Training Day
We recently had the pleasure of hosting a powerful Trauma-Informed Care Training led by Michelle Harter, Director of the Recovery Community Center. Open to staff, volunteers, and community members, the session drew a strong and enthusiastic turnout.
Michelle delivered practical, easy-to-apply insights that resonated across roles, helping participants better understand the impact of trauma on the individuals we serve. Through thoughtful facilitation and real-world examples, she created an engaging learning environment that encouraged reflection, connection, and growth.
The training strengthened our collective ability to respond with empathy, awareness, and informed care—an essential part of the work we do every day.
Thank you, Michelle, for leading such a meaningful and impactful experience!

Hartford RISE Program Through connection, support, and empowerment, Hartford RISE is helping participants build a strong foundation for successful reentry and long‑term stability.
On Wednesday, April 15, the Hartford RISE program marked an important milestone by hosting its first support group. Eight women came together in a safe, confidential, and gender‑responsive space to engage in meaningful conversations around coping skills, peer support, and healthy decision‑making.
| | | Over the past four months, this newly established program—designed to support women returning to the greater Hartford area after incarceration—has continued to grow and make a positive impact. | |
"I’m going to be honest; I was so mad probation made me come here, but I’ve really looked forward to every session. It was incredibly helpful to have an outlet to work through personal challenges without feeling judged."
—Ernie Carrion, Behavior Health Services Client
