  Hello SB Readers,

Are you listening? (I took a selfie especially for this column. It is hard to get my ear to stand up.) More on that below.

The Ratriots, I mean Patriots won again in a Super Dud. The NFL might just change the name from the Super Bowl to "The New England Invitational" and invite teams to play NE in a new dome stadium in Boston funded by taxpayers. God I need another Milkbone.

THE FLETCHER-PRATT AWARD

Congrats to author Timothy Smith for winning the prestigious Fletcher Pratt Award for his newly released The Real Horse Soldiers! Tim took my owner, Demetri Savas, and his dad around the Shiloh battlefield in 2007 on a wonderful tour. See below for more details!

   ARE YOU LISTENING?
  ARE YOU LISTENING?
                 ARE YOU LISTENING?

...cause our Audio releases are tearing up the charts. The Real Horse Soldiers is #4 in Bolivia, and Confessions of a Military Wife is #2 in Thailand! Okay, I just made that up. But still, if you can stream from you phone or computer, or want to listen in your car and not have to mess around with CDs, this is the route for you.

NEW LINK ON OUR WEBSITE

Under "Books" is a new AUDIO LINK. Check it out often as we have a host of books in production as I bark, including:

Valley Thunder: The Battle of New Market (Knight)
Six Days in September (Rossino)
New Dawn: Fallujah (Lowry)
Hunt and Kill: U-505 (Savas)
Meade and Lee after Gettysburg (Hunt)
Union Command Failure (Powell)
Million Dollar Man/Lincoln (McIllwain)

We will release a major announcement about all this in the next newsletter. Stay tuned.

FREE BOOK ENTRY: Just tell us how many audio book are in production (hint, look above), and email us: sales@savasbeatie.com. If you put the number 7, then we will enter you into a contest to win a free Emerging Civil War title! Hurry, cause this ends February 15!

I have a lot more to write, but I am exhausted barking at the TV during the game and am going to take a nap.

2018 was a wonderful year, and this year promises more excitement, more Milkbones, and more books, hopefully not in that order!

Woof.

Resolution Contest Results

This contest certainly generated some buzz. It sounds like quite a few of you have great plans for 2019. From cleaning bookshelves to create space for SB books (Kevin) to doing more background research for personal projects (Phil & Don) to getting caught up on SB books lest trouble at home ensues (Mike), your resolutions were impressive. The winner who was drawn out of a hat is Mike who hopes to raise funds throughout the year for the Friends of Raymond which, among other endeavors, helps replace informational signs on the battlefield that have been destroyed by the effects of that Mississippi sun. Congratulations, Mike!

 NEW Releases!
We are pleased to announce two new releases - one addition to the growing Emerging Civil War Series and a paperback!
Both books are now available. Call the office this week at 916-941-6896, visit our website, or  email us.

Historian William Lee White, whose devotion to the Army of Tennessee has taken him from the dense forests of northwest Georgia to the gates of Atlanta and back into Tennessee, now pens the penultimate chapter in the army's storied history.

Based upon extensive primary sources and a keen understanding of the terrain, Benedict Arnold's Army examines in fascinating detail a largely unknown but important period of both the Revolution and Arnold's life.

BIG News - Audio Books!

One of our goals beginning in the second half of 2018 was turning some of our outstanding print titles into a strong line of audio books. We are pleased to announce we have eleven (11) available now and another ten or so in development.

We hand select the narrators, and are extremely happy with them.

Test drive our new AUDIO BOOKS page (under the BOOKS section), give us your feedback, and listen to one of your favorite books! Be sure to keep a watchful eye on our Facebook page, as there may be a contest involved.

 Prestigious Book Award
Congratulations are in order for Tim Smith. The Real Horse Soldiers was recently awarded the prestigious Fletcher Pratt Award.

The Fletcher Pratt Award was established as a memorial to a distinguished charter member and former president (1953-54) of the Civil War Round Table of New York.

Tim will be presented this award at the annual meeting in May.

Reseller Spotlight - Bennington Battle Monument
It's been awhile since one of our Reseller Spotlights! Enjoy this conversation with Marylou Chicote. The Monument was built to commemorate the Battle of Bennington which occured on August 16, 1777, and is considered to be the turning point in the Revolutionary War. It is owned by the State of Vermont, and is supported by The Friends of the Monument, a non-profit volunteer group.

How long have you been in business?: The Bennington Battle Monument opened to the public in 1891. The State of Vermont took on ownership in 1950.

Where are you located?: 15 Monument Circle, Old Bennington, VT 05201

Are your customers mainly locals or tourists?: Tourists, we see visitors from all over the world, also school groups and motor coaches.

When new customers walk into your store on a typical day, what do they see?: The books are directly visible when visitors enter the South door, we also have Vermont Maple Products, and Vermont Souvenirs.

What types of books do you carry and how is your selection organized?: We specialize in books on the American Revolutionary War and the Battles of Bennington, Hubbardton and Saratoga, also books on Vermont and Vermont History.

From your selection of Savas Beatie books, what details or facts do you most enjoy sharing with shoppers?: We always point out sections in books that refer to Vermont and Bennington.

What else would you like to share about your shop?: We are open 7 days a week from May 1 until November 1.  It is a small but very well received shop, we receive many compliments on our inventory selection and presentation.
