Artist & Curator Talk
Saturday, October 11 |5 - 7 PM

Appalachian Fall showcases the evocative works of Appalachian artist Jack McMichael (Michael) Martin, whose drawings and poetry capture the essence of mountain life from 1968 to 1998.

Literary and art historian and vocalist Eva Martin alongside her brother Alex Martin, will discuss their father's work and the process of putting together this exhibit and the album.

During the curator talk, Alex will be joined by cellist Jodi Beder, as they perform a few selections from the soundtrack.

Brentwood Arts Exchange and DC Modular Society are teaming up to launch our newly rebranded curiosity jam series!

Select Thursdays, join us for Sonic Frontiers—an open jam series exploring the edges of sound through experimental, modular, and boundary-pushing music.

Whether you’re a modular synth enthusiast, a jazz improviser, a beatmaker, or just curious, this is your space to create, connect, and collaborate. Drop-in musicians of every genre are welcome to bring their sound and shape the vibe.

Brentwood Arts Exchange Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

This Hispanic Heritage Month, Brentwood Arts Exchange invites you to experience how art carries memory, heritage, and innovation across generations.

In our Main Gallery, Puntadas Invisibles (Invisible Stitches)—curated by Wilfredo Valladares—brings together artists Fabiola Alvarez Yurcisin, Gerardo Camargo, Glory Paredes, Irene Clouthier, and Sandra Pérez-Ramos. Through painting, sculpture, installation, and mixed media, they explore migration, displacement, and the unseen connections that stitch identity together across borders.

👉 Join us for the Artist Talk on Saturday, October 11, from 2–4 PM to hear directly from the artists about their work and process.

In the Artisan Shop, our Front Window features Amaya Accessories, the bold and intricate wearable art of Colombian-born, DC-based artist Mónica Gómez Biderman. Each piece is handwoven with high-quality Japanese glass beads, blending traditional techniques with contemporary color palettes and modern design.

Mónica’s work reflects a dialogue between heritage and innovation—ancestral bead weaving elevated through influences from nature, abstract art, and masters like Georgia O’Keeffe and Henri Matisse.

Stop by and shop the special collection through October 27!

This year’s commemorative poster, Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future, was created by Prince George’s County student artists through the Hispanic Heritage Internship Program in partnership with Pyramid Atlantic.

The design centers on two sets of hands—one older, one younger—embroidering a tapestry together. Surrounding them are symbols of cultural resilience: national flowers from Spanish-speaking countries, monarch butterflies representing migration and transformation, and architectural motifs drawn from Latin America.

Posters are FREE—please take one home as a keepsake of this celebration.
