On April 7th there was an eSports competition for the Rocket League at Suwannee Middle School. There are currently four teams of students competing against other middle school students both in the State of Florida and in other states. Each team has a different level of experience and “Sam” is in the “shout casting” booth detailing all the action. It is very exciting! In addition to computer science, the students are learning equipment management, graphic design, marketing, coaching, broadcasting, and teamwork. All students are given opportunities to lead. The setting is inspiring.
Title IV, Part A has played a big part in the startup and continuation of this successful STEM computer science opportunity. On the needed items that Title IV doesn’t cover, some sponsors have stepped forward to fill the need.
