Economic Mysteries in the Classroom

Economics of the Holidays and Celebration for Young Learners

The 2024 Winter Institute Program is a week-long extravaganza designed for educators, economic enthusiasts, and personal finance wizards. The institute promises a diverse and engaging experience.


Starting with Monday Micro, participants will dive into the world of Microeconomics, exploring consumer choices, supply and demand, and market structures.


Tuesday Macro shifts focus to Macroeconomics, examining economic cycles, fiscal policies, and global trade.


Wednesday Finance is all about Financial Literacy, offering insights into budgeting, investing, and understanding credit scores.


Thursday’s Grand Finale showcases new publications, teaching tools, and explores CEE’s student competitions, the National Personal Finance Challenge and Economics Challenge.


In CEE’s Winter Institute, participants can earn over 18 hours of CEUs through sessions led by Master Teachers. You will also have a chance to win exciting prizes like gift cards, books, and Nearpod memberships.

The Council for Economic Education (CEE) recognizes excellence in economic education by honoring three (3) outstanding high school educators from the New York Metropolitan area with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Teaching Champion Award. You need not be a teacher of economics to apply and win. This award honors and recognizes a high school level teacher who effectively delivers economic education in and out of their classrooms and achieves results. We seek applicants who instill in students an understanding of economics and the tools to make informed and responsible decisions that they will carry with them as they grow into successful and productive adults.


Awardees Will Receive:

  • A cash award of $5,000.
  • A cash award of $2,500 for their school to support economic education.
  • Free registration to CEE's 63rd Financial Literacy and Economic Education Conference in fall 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio.
  • Recognition at CEE's Visionary Awards Benefit on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024.
