Morgan Samuel Price En Plein Air Painting Demonstration
NEW IBERIA, La. --- As part of the Shadows-on-the-Teche: Plein Air exhibit, the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum will host a plein air painting demonstration on Tues., March 12 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

The demonstration will be conducted by Morgan Samuel Price, acclaimed plein air artist and judge for the 5th annual Shadows-on-the-Teche Plein Air Competition. Price has painted for more than 40 years and has authored two books on plein air painting. The demonstration will take place outside, weather permitting, at the Hilliard University Art Museum (710 E. St. Mary Blvd., Lafayette) and is free to attend.

The phrase plein air describes art created in the open air, a process much different than producing canvases in the studio. Artists must deal with shifting angles and tones of light as well as adverse weather conditions. Visitors are invited to travel around the seven-parish area and watch artists paint en plein air.
