FREE Printmaking Demonstration
with Anthony Kirk
Sunday, March 10, 2-4pm
About Anthony Kirk:

For more than four decades Anthony Kirk has been involved in fine art intaglio and relief printmaking first as a student at Winchester and Chelsea Schools of Art in the United Kingdom, then as a lecturer, instructor and Master Printer in the US. From 1987 to 2000 Kirk was head of the etching department at Tyler Graphics where he collaborated with Frank Stella, Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell and John Walker among others in the printing of their editions.

In his career as a Master Printer, Kirk has witnessed the introduction of methods and materials which are non- toxic and make unnecessary the traditional solvents associated with printmaking. He has taught these innovative techniques at Boston University, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, the Hotchkiss School, Fine Art Work Center, Provincetown, Woodstock School of Art and Manhattan Graphics Center. He will be introducing these methods in classes at Ridgefield Guild of Artists.

Kirk has exhibited his own prints widely including Footprint International, The Royal Scottish Academy, and the 3 rd International Print Biennale, Newcastle, England.
With our new upstairs studio, we are starting a new demonstration series "Meet the Teacher"
Please join us Sunday, March 10 at 2:00pm when Anthony Kirk will be demonstrating monotype printmaking using water soluble printing inks and crayons as well as intaglio printing using photopolymer plates which are “etched” with plain tap water.

The first 12 participants who RSVP to this free demonstration will have the opportunity to print their own monotype at the press with Kirk’s guidance.
