About the SHSAT extra help tutor: Olga
Olga is currently a third-year medical student at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. She graduated from Brooklyn College’s coordinated BA/MD program with a double major in Sociology and Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry. Olga graduated from Staten Island Technical, a Specialized High School, with a 4.0 GPA. Olga scored a 650 on the SHSAT, placing into Stuyvesant, but chose SIT because it was s a better fit and much closer to home. She is a longtime, platinum-level tutor at Kweller Prep.

If you have an 8th or 9th grader in NYC and plan to take the SHSAT, you need to sign up at myschools by November 4, 2022.
Please create an account and register for the SHSAT Exam by November 4, 2022.
The actual SHSAT will be administered in NYC public schools on November 17, 19, and 20, 2022.

SHSAT REGISTRATION BEGINS Thursday, OCTOBER 6:

Like last year, interested eighth-grade students can register for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). Taking this test is how students apply to the eight testing Specialized High Schools. SHSAT registration opens on October 6.

Most NYC public middle schools will administer the SHSAT during the school day on November 17 for current students.

Private, parochial, and charter school students, as well as any interested ninth-grade students, will take the test on the weekend of November 19-20.
 
The full timeline of the middle and high school admissions process and key dates are included below:

  • October 6: SHSAT Registration Opens
  • October 12: HS Application Opens
  • October 26: MS Application Opens
  • November 17: SHSAT School Testing
  • November 19/20: SHSAT Weekend Testing
  • December 1: MS / HS Application Deadline
  • Early March: High School and Specialized High School Offers
  • April: Middle School Offers

Kweller Prep Tutoring and Educational Services was developed and founded by Frances Kweller, an attorney-at-law and daughter of immigrants. Frances graduated from New York University's Steinhardt School of Education and Hofstra University School of Law and is a member of the NYS Bar Association. Frances is also a member of the National Association for College Counseling (NACAC).

Ben Davidov, the General Manager, joined the Kweller Prep Team in 2014. He graduated from Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business, where he attended on a full scholarship. As a former SAT, Regents, and AP student, and a decade-long employee, Ben is personally vested in the success of every student at Kweller Prep
