LESSON 3
AS THE DAYS OF NOAH WERE – PART 2
SONS OF GOD
I suggest that you re-read yesterday’s article (3-29-2022) before this one to refresh your memory. Today we continue with Genesis 6:1-4 specifically about four terms found in verse 4: [1] the sons of God, [2] of old, [3] giants, and [4] men of renown.
First, we will tackle the term “the sons of God.” The term used here for God is Elohiym which is plural. It is a generic term which when used alone commonly refers to pagan gods in the Old Testament. In verse 3 it says the LORD (Jehovah) was very displeased with mankind. It was because of what was occurring with these “demons” and their offspring with human women.
Why were these demons called sons? Well, Jehovah God had created them, so they were his “fallen sons.” All spirits, good and evil, were created by God. All were created good, but one-third of them rebelled with Lucifer, thus becoming evil.
Demonic entities who, along with their commander Lucifer (Satan) seek to be as “God” (Isaiah 14:12-16) to mankind, usurping the position of Jehovah.
These demon spirits have the ability to manifest in human form just as God’s angels manifested in human form to Abraham. Just as God’s angels have some supernatural powers, so also do the demons. They were created equally.
All angels and demons are male. There are no females. Yes, the demon spirit called Jezebel takes a female name after King Ahab’s cursed wife, but the spirit is male despite the deceptive female name. God’s curse upon Jezebel gave the demons legal authority to use her name.
So, through this scripture passage of Genesis 6:1-4 we see that the demonic “sons of god” were corrupting the seed of ‘adam (mankind) creating a demon-human hybrid being.
Tomorrow, we continue as we look at the other three referenced terms of verse 4.
