NO FEAR
One of the biggest strongholds that Satan wants to put in a person’s life is fear. If he can get you to fear, he controls you whether you are a Christian or a non-believer. Satan works in our thoughts. If he can get you to think that something will happen, and you entertain that thought, he controls you.
In II Timothy 1:7 it says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” If God did not give it to us, then it came from Satan. God wants us to have the spirit of power. The word power comes from the Greek word dunamis which means ability, abundance, miracles, strength, mighty wonderful work. The word dynamite is a derivative of the word dunamis. We have “explosive, mighty power” as a gift from God. This is quite the opposite of fear. It gives us the “power” to go into the enemy’s camp and take back what he has stolen from us!
God also has given us the spirit of love. The word love is the Greek word “agape” which is a love feast! Wow, no fear when we feast on love!
God also has given us the spirit of a sound mind. The word mind is the Greek word sophronismos which means discipline or self-control. We have the choice what to think and we must discipline ourselves to think on the word of God.
When we walk in the dunamis (power) of God with the agape (love) for those around us and have a disciplined (sophronismos) mind no fear can enter in.
We must discipline ourselves to walk this way. We must take our thoughts captive and not allow Satan’s thoughts to dominate our thinking. In Isaiah 26:3 it says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed (fixed) on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Peace comes when our minds are fixed on God because we trust Him and His promises. This brings us the victory. I think of it like Velcro. We attach ourselves to God and His promises and “stick with Him.”
Do not be like the man that would not visit his family because they weren’t vaccinated. He had so much fear that he would catch a virus. This thinking was totally controlled by fear. How sad it is that he lived his life that way. Fear was controlling every decision that he made.
Yes, there are viruses, but God sees us through. He hasn’t failed me once in my life through chicken pox, measles, mumps, whooping cough, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy, surgeries, and many other things. I refuse to let my life be dominated by fear, and I pray that you will do the same.
