INNOCENT BLOOD
In Proverbs 6 16-19 it speaks of the things that the LORD (Jehovah) hates. One of those things is, “hands that shed innocent blood.” This could relate to someone being put to death that was not guilty of the crime they were killed for, but there is another serious meaning of this part of scripture.
In II Kings we learn about a king named Manasseh. He was born during the fifteen-year period that was added to King Hezekiah’s life when he prayed. Manasseh took over the reign of his godly father Hezekiah when he was only 12 years old. His father was called one of the best kings that ever lived in the David kingship line.
You would think with a godly father that you would see a godly son raised up, but this was not the case of Manasseh. He reigned fifty-five years and in II Kings 21:2-3 it says, “And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations (wicked practices) of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. For he built up again the high places (pagan altars) which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Ba’al and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven and served them. And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, in Jerusalem will I put my name. And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.”
Ba’al was a pagan god that called for sacrifice of “innocent blood.” Hezekiah brought this back into Judah and caused the people to sin. This is the same spirit that is in the United States with a law that gives permission of sacrificing “innocent blood” through abortion. That law is Roe vs. Wade. Remember, Proverbs told us that shedding of innocent blood is hated by God.
In II Kings 24 King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was allowed by God to take control of the land of Judah. Many were taken into captivity. In II Kings 24:3-4 it says, “Surely at the commandment of the LORD (God allowed this captivity) came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did; and also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.”
Judah was taken captive by a pagan king for the shedding of innocent blood. The U.S. has seen well over 60 million innocent babies in the womb be murdered through abortion. I honestly believe our nation is under judgment because of this horrible sin that God hates. Will we be taken into captivity because we have not repented of this sin?
The Supreme Court is reviewing Roe vs. Wade even as this is being written. There is much division over this. Those that oppose abortion (shedding of innocent blood) stand with God. Those that stand for abortion oppose God because he hates this sin.
We truly need to pray that Roe vs. Wade will be overturned, but if it isn’t, I can be almost certain that judgment will come down hard as a hammer in the U.S. Many judgments are already happening because of this sin. Drought, plagues, loss of work, mandates, famine, flooding, earthquakes, death; could all of these be related to the heinous act that we have made legal? I believe it is.
Now let me say this, there are those that have had an abortion, and truly are repentant of this act. Do not let Satan condemn you if you have repented. It is under the blood of Jesus to never be remembered. We know those babies are with the Lord in heaven and they will be seen by the mothers that have given their hearts to Jesus.
Remember, it is the nation that will be judged just like it was in the days of Manasseh. Sadly, the people will reap the consequences also if this law isn’t overturned. Again, I would say we must pray that Roe vs. Wade is overturned.
