THE LIFE OF MOSES – LESSON 24

YESHUAH - MY SALVATION AND SAFETY

I mentioned yesterday in Exodus 15:1 that Moses and the children of Israel sang unto the LORD, “…for He hath triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider hath He thrown into the sea.” They had just experienced the salvation from bondage to a land of sin and been brought to safety.

I want us to look at the meaning and the source of those two words, salvation, and safety, as it relates to this story of Israel’s deliverance and its relevance to us today. Two verses stand out.

In Exodus 14:3 as they stand on the Egyptian side of the Red Sea it says, “Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD….”

Exodus 15:2 says, “The LORD…he is become my salvation. He is my God…and I will prepare Him an habitation.”

In each verse the English word for salvation is Yeshua, the name of God the Son, Jesus. Strong’s Concordance (H3444) gives the meaning of Yeshuah as “deliverance, health, help, salvation.” Young’s Analytical Concordance gives the meaning as “safety.” Both are correct as they essentially mean the same thing. Jesus has delivered us from the bondage of a world of sin and given us salvation (Strong’s).

The word for LORD in Ex. 14:13 is “Yahweh” which is the name of the fullness of God, the Trinity of Father, Son, and Spirit. The word for LORD in Ex. 15:2 is “Yahh” which is specifically the name of the Father. In view of that, let me render in English how it reads in the original Hebrew.

Exodus 14:13, “Fear ye not, stand still, and see the Yeshuah (Son) of Yahweh (Father, Son, Spirit),”

the one who is our salvation and safety.

Exodus 15:2 says, “The Father…is become my Yeshuah. He (Yeshuah) is my God (‘El).”

This affirms Jesus’ godhood. The Hebrew name ‘El is a singular name indicating lordship or deity. That is the singular form of Elohiym which is the plural for the trinity Godhead.

This overcomes some people’s doubt of Jesus’ divinity. Exodus 15:2 declares Yeshuah as God who proceeds from the Father (Yahh).

Isn’t it great that everything in the New Testament can be verified from the Old Testament written many centuries earlier? Because of whom Jesus is, we can “fear not” (Ex. 14:13) because He is our safety in salvation. Moses spoke it. We receive it.

RESISTANCE

I have a friend that works out at the gym. She goes there to improve her health. It was that or face a death sentence since she had so many physical issues. There are many machines there that can be used to work the heart, the muscles and help bring a healthy body. Most of the machines use resistance to do this.

Resistance causes us to have to work those muscles whether it feels good or not. It strengthens them and makes them work better. I am sure that there were many days that her body ached as she went through this physical exercise

Then there is the spiritual side of things. Did you know that resistance builds our spiritual muscles? This resistance comes from using our faith. In James 4 we are given some great spiritual advice. In verse 6 it says, “…God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”  This resistance means when we have pride in our life that God will push against us. The word resisteth means to stand against, oppose, resist, withstand. I would say that it would not be a good place to be to have God oppose us.

Then verse 7 tells us, “Submit yourselves therefore to God, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Many take this verse out of context and just use the latter part of the verse, where it says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee.” If we do not submit ourselves (humble ourselves) then we cannot expect the rest of the verse to work for us. It would be like buying exercise equipment and never using it.

Verse 8 says, “Draw night to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts ye double minded.”  It starts with us. We make the decision to submit ourselves to God, and then we can expect things to change. Then and only then will the devil flee from us when we resist him.

As we draw to God through exercising our faith by reading and studying the Word of God, we get stronger and become able to resist the devil. It is necessary to be the victor instead of the victim. Don’t resist God’s correction when He speaks to you. It will help you to mature in your Christian walk. It takes time for your spiritual muscles to develop, but God will help you if you submit yourself to Him.

Prophetic Exhortation

Distractions, deceptions, and delay are at an all time high. We must stay focused on the promises of God and not get off track. Stan is setting up traps for those that aren't observant. Be mindful that he does not play fair. Keep your eyes on Jesus and you won't fall into his traps.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

In this season, like never before, God desires His children to be fully LED by His Spirit. However, His Spirit gives us directions and NOT road maps. Perhaps some of you are even now asking God for directions; But are you sure you’re not actually wanting Him to give you a typewritten, turn by turn road map? We must always keep on the front burner of our minds that God LEADS His children...But He never DRIVES them. The fact is that you drive cows but you lead sheep. God’s Word in Matthew 9:36 compares us to sheep needing a shepherd; NOT a bunch of wild rebellious cattle needing to be sternly DRIVEN to keep us going in the right direction. There’s really nothing to worry about as God will give you up to date instructions; But only as you faithfully walk out the former and the present instructions and directions that He’s already given you. This only comes through His Holy Spirit leading and guiding you. It’s crucial that your destiny trips are made with the help of a great GPS (God’s Positioning System) today, tomorrow and everyday. You can be assured that God has some really satisfying surprises and even some super suddenlies in store for you…Just be patient and wait for His leading. So get yourself ready for God to move in you, on you and through you; But always FOR you. Have a blessed and fruitful journey today.
