THE LIFE OF MOSES – LESSON 31

THE GLORY OF GOD MANIFESTED

After Moses interceded for the people, he moved the tabernacle away from the camp. Anyone who wanted to go there had to leave the camp to get there.

There soon came a day when Moses took that short journey out to the tabernacle. Everyone watched him from the door of the sukkot (hut). As he entered, the glory cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle. The LORD then talked person to person with Moses. Joshua was in attendance. When Moses left, Joshua remained there to bask in God’s presence.

Moses asked God to show him His glory. (Exodus 33:18.) God promised to do that and did it later up on the mountain.

God then told Moses to hew two stone tablets out of raw uncut stone. God had made the first two tablets that Moses smashed in his anger. Now Moses would have to cut and chisel these two himself. Once finished, he took these with him up on to Mount Sinai for another 40-day visit with God.

Once on the mountain, God showed Moses His glory. As instructed, Moses hid himself in the cleft (opening, breach) of the mountain’s rock. God passed by not showing his face to Moses. He only saw his back side. Moses would have been struck dead if he were to have seen God’s face. No man on earth can bear the fullness of God’s glory and live. In fact, they never actually see God’s glory. They only see or sense it by a cloudy mist or a sweet fragrance. Moses was privileged to see God’s glory it because he walked so close to God.

After this, God again wrote His commandments on the stone tablets just as He had done the first time. He then gave a lot more instructions to Moses as to what the people should do. The glory of God had so touched Moses that when he came down from Sinai his face shone so brightly that it frightened them, and he had to wear a veil to cover his face. (Ex. 34:29-30.)

The glory of Father God (Yahh) is beyond anything we can see or imagine. It is the manifestation of absolute pure holiness. We can only see manifested evidence of it. However, His glory may rest over the heads of His special servants whom he has called. That glory brings blessing to the servant beyond anything that servant could have accomplished on his/her own.

His glory cannot literally be on us or in us in our earthly bodies, else we would be struck dead. Paul saw the glory of God and he became blind. Steven, while dying from being stoned, saw the glory of God in the heavens. Neither had the glory in them, but it was seen by them. The glory can be over us or around us and can go where we go. We should pray that God’s glory goes with us that others may sense God’s presence and be drawn to God.

ROOTS

I love to grow things. I have grown dozens of avocado trees from the pit, and many have produced fruit. My husband was working in the back yard of our new home recently and while raking he found a root. He brought it to me and said it looked like ginger. I cut it, and sure enough it is ginger. Someone had planted it there before we bought this home.  I decided to take this small root and put it in water to see if it would develop a root system. Sure enough, there are roots growing on it and soon it can be planted. It will need time to grow, but soon it will be able to grow and reproduce.

Scripture has a lot to say about seeds and roots. In Colossians 2:6-7 it says, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”  The word root in these verses means to become stable. Like a plant, we must also have a good root system for us to grow properly. We must be rooted in Jesus.

When the parable of the four soils was given by Jesus, seed could not grow deep in the wayside, or in the stony, or thorny ground. The stony ground had no root in themselves so it couldn’t grow. (Mark 4:17.)

A common factor in most churches is that people have very shallow roots when it comes the deeper (rooted) things of God. Because of this they sway with every new wind of doctrine that blows their way.

You could have a carry-in dinner and have a crowd, but often when there is a bible study only a few people may show up. You can’t blame that on a pastor if the people don’t want to hear the word taught. You could have a church with thousands of members when the messages preached are about feeling good, but when repentance is preached the numbers dwindle. Others think because they had some “good preaching” when they were young that it will sustain them, and they don’t need to be in church.   That is like eating day old bread. It just isn’t like a fresh word of God by studying it daily.

In the days coming we must have deeper roots in the word of God (which is Jesus Christ, because he is the WORD that became flesh) and know who we are in Jesus. We must know how to use our authority through his name. We must be anchored in the word so our faith will be strong when the winds of adversity blow.

The prophets of the Old Testament sent warning after warning to those that weren’t living rooted in Jehovah. They sought after foreign gods and idols and were eventually taken into captivity. Without Christ, we have no root system at all.

I want my roots to grow deeper and deeper in Christ and I pray that you do too!

Prophetic word

As given to Helen Sanders

Hold nothing back. Share with all you can, for the time is short saith the Lord. Time is short. Do what you have been called to do like you’ve never done it before. The enemy would try to stop you with lies and deception, but go forth in my power and strength and do great and might exploits. Tear down the walls of prejudice. Tear down the walls of hate and unforgiveness  Tear down the walls of unbelief. Tear down the walls of bitterness. These things have to go saith the Lord, for I am coming for a bride that is without spot or blemish. Cleans your hands you double minded. Focus on things of the Spirit and not things of the flesh. Call your flesh into submission to the Spirit of God. Do not allow yourself to be led by feelings and emotions, for they will bring you down. Get into that secret place and hear what I would have you to do. Each day, each hour, listen for your assignment. Do not take your assignment based on what is happening around you. Do not take your assignment based on things of mammon or greed. Take your assignment seriously, and do what I would lead you to do. Time is short. Laborers are few to bring in my harvest. Shackles must be broken off and faith must arise. Fear not what man says to you. Fear not for the ridicule must come. Fear only me saith the Lord, for I am the one that you are accountable to. Let your voice be the trumpet and proclaim loudly the words that I have shared with you. You must warn whether the people hear or not for you will be held accountable for what you do with the gifts that I have given you. Are you of me saith the Lord, then go forth in my power and strength and do what I have said saith the Lord.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Perhaps you’ve been feeling like Ezekiel of old did in the 37th chapter of Ezekiel; And now it seems as if you too are in a dark valley of your own. No, your valley isn’t full of dry bones; But still you’ve found yourself in a dry place of your own. There in that valley are dead things many can relate to; Such as dead hopes, dead dreams, broken or dead relationships and even some dead goals because of closed doors. Oh, but you hold on and keep trusting God...For even now He is at work in your life turning that dead, dry and dark valley into a lush green mountain top that’s full of divine favor, answered prayers and unexpected miracles. So begin to praise God for all you’ll receive there in that lonely dark valley where many have walked before you; And then get ready to walk on out of that valley, lift your hands and praise the Lord… For you’re soon to be on shouting ground.
