SHOOT ALL THE ARROWS

The prophet Elisha was sick and dying. He called Joash, a godly King of Israel to come to him. He wanted to bless him.

In 2 Kings 12:15-16 he told King Joash to get a bow and arrows and put his hands on the bow. He did, and Elisha placed his hands on King Joash’s hands. This is a sign of transferring the anointing.

In v12:17 Elisha said, “Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, ‘Shoot.’ And he shot. And he said, ‘The arrow of the LORD’S deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.”

In verse 18 Ellisha said, “… ‘Take the arrows.’ [plural] And he took them. And he [Elisha] said unto the king of Irael, ‘Smite upon the ground.’ And he smote thrice, and stayed [stopped].”

In verse 19 Elisha rebukes the king and told him he should have struck the ground five or six times and if he had he would have destroyed Syria totally. Since he didn’t there would only be three battles won.

So many times in life we do not have the faith to go beyond what we know to do. We think what we have done is sufficient, but it isn’t. God wants us stretched beyond our natural ability so we “shoot all the arrows” and win the battles. We do not do this in our own strength. We do it through Christ who gives us the strength beyond what we can do ourselves.

Is there a time that you didn’t “shoot all the arrows?” If so, learn from your mistake and trust God that he will give you another chance. This time let him stretch you beyond what you have ever done and watch what God can do to and through you.

Shoot all the arrows!

GOD BLESS YOU
