THE LIFE OF MOSES – LESSON 36

MOSES’ PERSEVERANCE AND HIS FAILURE

We now fast-forward to the final year or two of wanderings. They had settled in at Kadesh-barnea in the Wilderness of Zin. It was the first month of their 40th year. It was here that Miriam died and was buried (Exodus chapter 20).

There was no water at their particular location here at the southern border of Canaan. This caused the people once again to come against Moses and Aaron due to thirst. As Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before God in the tabernacle, the glory of Jehovah appeared to them. God told them to take the rod and gather the assembly of the people. They were to take them to the rock so they could personally witness God’s miracle provision of water from a dry well, the rock.

God told Moses to simply speak the word to the rock. He did not. Perhaps it was due to the anger from the people’s murmuring, and his remembrance of having struck the rock at Sinai to get water that caused him once again to strike the rock twice instead of speaking to it. As he struck it with the rod water came forth. The people witnessed this faith-building miracle. Nevertheless, Moses had disobeyed God’s specific instruction to only speak to the rock. Because of his sin of disobedience, God denied him of the opportunity to enter Canaan. Moses named the place “Meribah” meaning “strife” because the people had not trusted God or His leader Moses.

They now broke camp and came to Mount Hor, near Edom, to the southeast of the dead sea. It is here that Aaron died. It was here that the people again complained (Ex. 21:5-9) that they had neither food nor water. The LORD punished them by sending many poisonous fiery serpents (snakes) to bite them. Many of them died from these bites.

When the people confessed to Moses for their sin against Jehovah, God answered with a remedy. He told Moses to craft a brass image of a fiery serpent and set it up onto a pole. Everyone who came to that pole and looked at the brass fiery serpent while it was lifted up received healing from the fiery serpent bites.

Who else was lifted up that we might be delivered? Yes, Jesus was lifted up about 1,500 years later. Moses had endured much murmuring and complaining, numerous accusations, and two rebellions, yet his faith and trust in Jehovah did not fail. This meek man endured all these hardships to the very end.

When we go through hardships, take inspiration from Moses who was bombarded with these challenges for forty years. Put your trust in the LORD and do not despair.

DECEPTION

If I were to ask which form of media that you trust, I would probably hear various answers. Most of which would be none of them. Most of the media are owned by left-wing liberals, and they will put out what their owners want them to put out. The news has been slanted for a long time, and because of this fear has crept into much of the world. Mistruths, half-truths, slander, outright lies are all part of their plan.

We are warned in scripture that deception will run rampant in the last days. Jesus warns us in Matthew 24:4 to, “…. Take heed that no man deceive you.” Deception should not come as a surprise. There has been deception since the garden of Eden.

So, how do you know what is true and what is false? You know it through the word of God, and the witness of Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, but we must listen to him. He doesn’t scream. He speaks through the word of God and the inner witness.

As far as the news is concerned, I do not listen to major network news. I don’t believe half of what they say. They are led by the spirit of python that twists words and coats them with sugar. If I read the news it comes from conservative sources, and then you must discern whether they are truthful.

We must not be deceived in the days we are living in. There will be tough times

because scripture tells us that, but it also tells us that God will never leave us nor forsake us. That brings comfort through the chaos.

Spend time reading the word of God and learn what God is saying to you individually. Don’t trust every prophetic word put out there. Sift it through the Holy Spirit. There will always be peace when it comes from God!

PROPHETIC WORD

AS GIVEN TO HELEN SANDERS

For I have set you apart for this season saith the Lord, and I would say, come to the winepress and I will show you how the wine is made. Do you see the grapes my child? They are fully ripe and have been harvested; but now is the time for the crushing. You see my child there is no pouring out of the wine without the crushing of the grapes. The grapes are the fruit in your life that I am pleased with, but now it is time for the fruit to be crushed so the pure wine of the vine can come forth. Do you notice that the grapes are put there by the ones that have grown them? Do you notice how they are poured onto the press? Do you think the grapes realize that this is the time for change? No, my child for if they knew they would escape the husbandman’s hand and would flee. They are harvested for this hour and for this purpose. Watch closely as the press begins. It will begin slowly for if it was speedily the grapes would fall from the press. Then as the process begins, the crushing becomes more intense, and the hulls of the grapes are sifted from the pure fruit of the vine. So, it will be with you, my child. You will see this hour as something very unpleasant as the crushing away of those things has to happen to bring forth the true fruit of the vine in your life. As it is crushed, it changes the way the grape is viewed. It no longer is plush full and ready to be eaten. For you, the grapes of my field were chosen to be the precious wine that can only come through the crushing. I will take you now to the olive press my child, and you shall see how the oil comes forth. It too only comes forth through the crushing of the fruit, but what comes forth is the anointing oil that brings forth the anointing in your life. So too, shall the things that need to be crushed to bring forth the anointing will happen with you my child, for I long to pour my anointing out upon you, but it will only come through the crushing. Oh, you have the fruit, but the fruit must be crushed to bring forth the anointing. Now that you have seen the press my child it is up to you to go through this process, but I can assure you that the outcome will be far more valuable than the pain of the crushing. You shall see things change in your life as the wine and the oil are poured out from you and into others. Will you be as one that surrenders and says not my will but thine oh Lord be done? If so, my child be prepared for this season of crushing. It will begin slowly but will become very intense even so that your entire being would cry out to me and ask why I have forsaken you, but you must realize this must take place to be used as the precious oil and wine for my kingdom, saith the Lord.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Elijah one of the greatest prophets of the Bible found himself alone, impoverished and camping out by a brook. Not to mention he was fed daily by the ravens much like a buzzard. Oh, sure he could’ve done like most of us have done at some point in time and begin to feel sorry for himself...While asking the familiar question…”Why God Why”? After all he was running from Ahab and his crazy controlling wife Jezebel. Don’t you know that he could have even started questioning his calling as a prophet by now? However, instead Elijah rejoiced that God had watched over him and kept him safe, fed and alive thus far. Let me remind you that you, your crisis or your famine are not one in the same. So don’t ever allow your crisis to define your calling. It’s time for you to...Relax, Refresh, Refocus, Recharge...And keep moving on and trusting God.
