EVERYTHING STARTS WITH A SEED
I love to see things grow. We have numerous plants throughout our home and yard. Some are flowers that bring color to our lives, while others grow in the garden that we eat. I have started several trees from their seeds. Then they grew and gave fruit. This is the process of the seed. It gets planted then it grows and reproduces, but it all started with the seed.
Everything good or bad starts with a seed. With Adam and Eve, Satan planted a seed of doubt in Eve’s mind by saying, “Hath God said…” It brought forth fruit and both Adam and Eve bought the lie from that seed that was planted.
Strife, hatred, wars, disputes, arguments all start from seeds. Since the scripture tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue, we understand that what we say brings forth seed for life or death. Love, peace, kindness, joy, are also seeds that are planted.
Everything starts with a seed. We are eating the fruit of the “words” or seeds we planted a year ago, a decade ago, or an hour ago. Does it taste good? If so, then you have planted life. If it has a bitter taste, then it was death.
The thing about seeds is that we have the choice to receive them into our heart or not. Eve did and it brought destruction. Wisdom comes from reading the word of God. It shows us what is a good seed and what isn’t good for us. We should be careful what we speak, but more careful of what we “eat.” If we eat or speak something that brings death, Holy Spirit will bring conviction to us. Then it is up to us to repent. When we do, the seed is “brought up” and spit out. Simple as that. If we don’t repent, then it will produce the wrong kind of fruit in our lives.
As we each examine our own lives and not others under the magnifying glass of God’s word, we may discover things about ourselves that displease God. Do not take it as condemnation. It is God’s way of saying it is time to dig that seed out and destroy it before it destroys you. Each of us has to make that decision for ourselves. Remember, it starts as a seed, but it doesn’t have to grow if we don’t let it.
Selah.
