TUG OF WAR
Did you ever play tug of war as a kid? You would take a long rope and have two teams. One on each end of the rope. The object of the game was to get the opposing team to lose their balance and fall. You would “tug” on the rope until one side failed to stand.
There is a tug of war in each Christian. You could say that there is a spiritual rope in each of us. One end is attached to our new nature that we receive when we are born again, and the other end is attached to our old nature. Satan is the strong man on the old nature side. He has all the demons of hell on his side. He is always trying to “pull our string” (rope) and cause us to fail.
On the other side is Holy Spirit. He has all the angels of heaven backing him up. While Satan is whispering words of defeat into our ears, Holy Spirit whispers the promises of God.
How do we determine the winner? It will be the one left standing. If you fall for Satan’s tactics you will surely fail, but if you stand on the promises of God, you will always win. Yes, there is a fight, and the more of the word of God you have in you, the stronger you are for the Lord’s team.
Satan goes after those that are weak in their walk. He doesn’t play fair. God takes our weaknesses, and his strength is made perfect in them. (II Corinthians 12:9)
You are always a winner when you are on God’s team. Hang in there, and don’t give up!
