JESUS DEATH AND RESURRECTION LESSON 5 OF 5
Praise the Lord! Today, Tuesday April 19, 2022, is Resurrection Day! It is always three days after Passover (which was Saturday this particular year.)
Passover is determined according to the full moon, so it changes from year to year. To give you an advance “heads up” I will list the next five years dates.
2022
Passover was on Saturday April 16 and Resurrection Day is Tuesday April 19.
2023
Passover will be on Thursday April 6 and Resurrection Day is Sunday April 9.
2024
Passover will be on Tuesday April 23 and Resurrection Day is Friday April 26.
2025
Passover is Saturday April 12 and Resurrection Day is Tuesday April 15.
2026
Passover is Wednesday April 1 and Resurrection Day is Saturday April 4.
2027
Passover is Thursday April 22 and Resurrection Day is Sunday April 25.
Regardless of what day of the week it falls on, it is a good time to remember Jesus’ resurrection, even if you choose to always celebrate it on a Sunday.
In the early church of the apostle’s time, neither Jesus’ birth nor His resurrection were celebrated as a holiday as it is now done. These celebrations were established about three hundred years after Jesus’ time. Nonetheless, it is good and right that we take time together as a church body to commemorate both dates.
So, today make it a point to praise and give thanks to Father God that Jesus was raised from the dead. This resurrection to life is what gives us life in Him forever. His death freed us from the bondage of sin and His resurrection gave us eternal life.
It was not only a great gift, but it was also a great sacrifice for Father. We usually only think of Jesus’ own sacrifice. We must understand that it was such a great sacrifice on Father’s part that he could not look upon Jesus as he carried the weight of sin on the cross of all mankind’s sin from Adam to our time and beyond. It was a sacrifice for both Father and Son. We cannot thank both Father and Son enough.
