WHEN GOD SHUT THE DOOR
Throughout the scriptures there are many references to doors. Jesus even called himself the “door” in John 10:7 where he said, “Then said Jesus unto them again, verily, verily, I say unto you I am the door of the sheep.” He was indicating that in order to come into God’s sheepfold, (through salvation) you had to go through him. There was no other way. Those that try to get in another way will be kicked out and reap the wrath of God.
Jesus also talked about the ten virgins in Matthew 25 1-13. The wise virgins were allowed entrance into the marriage celebration, but the foolish virgins weren’t prepared. They didn’t have the oil in their lamps to meet him. In verse 10 it says, “And while they went to buy, (oil) the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.” Later they came and asked the Lord to open the door, but he said in verse 12b, “Verily I say unto you, I know you not.” It was too late. The door was shut.
In Genesis we read the story of Noah. He spent years bringing the message to the ungodly people that a flood was coming but they didn’t listen. He brought the animals and his family into the ark, and it says in Genesis 7:16, “And they went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.” You notice that God shut them in. The door was closed to those that didn’t listen. Only eight souls were saved from the flood that covered the earth.
God shuts doors my friends. There is coming a day in the not-so-distant future, where the door, who is Jesus, will say, sorry, the door is shut. It will be too late for anyone to get saved because they didn’t take advantage of salvation when it was offered. It will be a horrible time for those that hear, “depart from me, I never knew you.” It is our job to bring the word to those in sin and tell them there is a Savior that will welcome them to come through his “door” now. We must be urgent with this message because the day is at hand when there will be no oil for those that don’t respond. There is a day coming where the ark of salvation will be shut and there is no further chance to get saved.
Doors shut. I pray that you will share Christ with everyone you can, while you can, and everywhere you can while the door is still open. I believe it is shutting soon. If you haven’t invited Christ into your life don’t wait. Now is the hour of salvation.
