FOR ACTION - TIME SENSITIVE

In advance of next Wednesday's Committee hearing, NHOA members are asked to register support for SB 440 with the House Executive Departments & Administration Committee.

Please do so by noon on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Your patients’ experience, your education and your training are essential for committee members to hear your voice. It's quick and easy to do.

Please read through this before you go to the state's new online portal to register your support. There are two steps to follow.

1) Use the state's Online Testimony Portal (outlined below)

2) E-mail your tailored remarks to the Committee directly

Note: You should still register your support even if you are planning to attend the hearing in person. . 

If you choose to type a brief statement, please forward those same remarks directly to the Committee's email address as well. Doing so increases the likelihood your support registers with the Committee members.

In the email, be certain to include your name and practice location and/or your hometown.

Exciting news to report!

SB 440 will be heard by the House Executive Departments & Administration Committee on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 1:15 p.m. The team is ready; they need our support!

We are asking for all NHOA members to attend this hearing.

Truth be told: there was a significantly larger number of ophthalmologists than optometrists at the Senate hearing. For that hearing, we knew that would not be a key influencing factor, however in the House, it can have an impact.

While we do not want to abandon patients, your NHOA legislative colleagues are rearranging schedules to be there and we know SB 440's opponents are rearranging their day. Wherever possible, we hope many of you will do the same.
