Minister of Music Search and A Few Thoughts on the Subject of Worship
On Sunday, April 8, you will have an opportunity to share your thoughts relative to what matters to you in a Minister of Music and the music ministry. Ultimately, our overriding concern is to seek God's person for this position of ministry and service. We must not lose sight of this priority. However, this does seem to be a proper time to take inventory of what matters to the congregation as we go forward relative to this position.

With that said, it is also an appropriate juncture to be reminded that we are not free to worship however we please. The question is not, "Will the unchurched, the unreached find what we are doing in worship appealing?"  The question is not, "Will believers like our worship services?" The question is, "Is this biblical?" "Will our act of corporate worship please God?" You see, our "target audience" in worship is God Himself. Worship is not about us; it is about God. The temptation for every church will be to craft worship services that will appeal to Millennials, Boomers, GenXers, etc., etc. Yet, a faithful church will not lose sight of who is to be worshiped. And, it matters how we worship God. The focus of the church gathered is the Lord Jesus Christ and His work of salvation for all who believe. Worship must include the reading and preaching of God's Word, the prayers and songs of God's people lifted up in the name of Jesus Christ, and the ordinances of the Lord's Supper and baptism properly administered. The question then becomes how does the ministry of music enhance the body life of the congregation and her focus on Jesus and the glory of God? Secondarily, what skills, personality traits, experience, education are necessary in the Minister of Music to assist the congregation in the pursuit of a greater awe of God? Here's what I would ask you to do--PRAY. Ask God to guide us, to guide the Personnel Committee, to guide us to the person God wants to come and serve here and in this position. Thank you.

A Proposal for a Modest Re-Model of Our Worship Center Platform Area
We have been and are in the process of putting together details and a proposal to share with you regarding a modest re-model of our worship center platform. We are waiting for a few additional components to come together before we bring the idea and proposed plans to you for consideration and approval. However, I think you will like what will be proposed and the plan for paying for the revisions. The last time significant updates were done in the sanctuary was in 1997. It's time for us to make a few cosmetic and functional changes that will enhance the aesthetics of our worship center. We hope to have these plans available for presentation in the next few weeks.

Thank You, John and Jerry
I do appreciate John Glover and Jerry Melson stepping in to give leadership to our music in worship. They are both plenty busy, but were more than willing to add this responsibility to their plates. Pray for them. Encourage them. Get behind them and support them during this interim phase as we seek a new Minister of Music. Neither of these men desire to be the long-term person to fill the job, but both are unselfish servants who are stepping in the gap for the time being.

Finally, Pray for Several Mission Opportunities
Several of our adults will be venturing to Panfork Baptist Encampment April 8-13, and then some of our Preteens will be participating in Mission Waco April 13-15. We ask you to pray for these short-term mission opportunities that lives will be touched in meaningful, Christ-honoring ways. It is a joy to be a part of our church that gives to, prays for, sends, and goes out on mission efforts.

                                                                                   With much affection,
