Dear Church Family:

When you look at all the FSBC family has accomplished this summer, it's easy to see what a remarkable people you are in your labor for the Lord. All the mission trips, camps, the Bible school, backyard Bible clubs, and other summer events would never have been possible without the gifts of your time, talent, and resources. THANK YOU! It would be difficult to express the full measure of gratitude we have as a staff for all of the helping hands of ministry and gifts which make the ministries of this church possible. Only God knows the full impact of how lives have been touched by this summer's slate of ministries. Thank you for being such a great church!

PBJ Groups Begin Sunday Night, September 10
As you are aware, we are launching our PBJ (Prayer, Bible Study, Joy of being in fellowship together) groups initiative on Sunday night, September 10, from 5:30-7:00 P.M. Ideally, these groups will meet geographically. These PBJ group locations will be announced soon. The meeting dates will be: September 10, 24, October 8, 22, and November 12, for a total of five meetings in the fall. These gathering times will consist of discussion and application of the Sunday morning sermon, a time of sharing, and prayer. These groups will offer times of building the fellowship of our church, accountability to one another for growth in godliness, and biblical instruction. Groups of people of all ages (childcare provided for children, nursery-6th grade), will gather in homes. Please watch the Sunday worship guide for additional information. I am confident that this initiative will be used of God to strengthen the fellowship and faith of our congregation.

Men-Time to Get in a R.U.T.-September 12
I want to invite our men to participate in a Tuesday morning Bible study beginning September 12, at 6:30 a.m. We will gather for coffee, donuts, fellowship, prayer, and Bible study. On the kickoff Tuesday, however, one of our men has offered to make provision for a fantastic full breakfast! R.U.T. stands for reliable, unswerving, and trustworthy, from 2 Timothy 2:2, which reads: "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." I have come to a conviction that as the men go in the church, so goes the church. We need men who are reliable, unswerving, and trustworthy. Each Tuesday morning we will open the Word of God and mine its riches. You are encouraged to bring a friend.

Debt Reduction on the Children's Building
The end of October marks the formal conclusion of our two year congregational emphasis of eliminating the debt on the children's building. As of this past Sunday, the indebtedness on our note is $201,742. Together, with God's enabling, we have pulled together to work toward eliminating our indebtedness. As are many of you, Beth and I are trusting the Lord to supply the resources needed to honor the commitment we made two years ago. What a day of celebration when we retire the debt and give glory to God for the victory! Thank you for your generous and faithful participation in this effort.

Looking Forward to the Fall Season of Ministry
My favorite time of the church year is the fall season. I like everything starting fresh again. I like getting everyone b ack from summer vacations and commitments. I like the buzz in the air as we begin a new school year and church year! I'm praying this will be one of the greatest fall seasons in our church's history. By the way, on Sunday, September 10, I will set in motion a sermon series from 1 Thessalonians. This book has much to say to us in terms of remaining faithful to Christ, maturing in the faith, and living for Christ faithfully even in the face of difficulty and uncertainty. I believe this will be a timely and meaningful series of messages.

Looking forward to the days ahead!
See you Sunday!

Senior Adult Ministry

IT'S TIME. . . to think about what you'll be doing this fall as we begin a new church year. I have learned the significance of "living in the present," because we don't know what the future may bring. With that in mind, the old cliché: "If not now, when? If not here, where? If not you, who?" will come into play as we gather on Tuesday, September 5, at 9:30 A.M., in the choir room for our annual Joyful Sound Retreat. I'd like to invite you to join us. We'll introduce the music for the fall and Christmas. Here's our retreat schedule:

9:30-10:15--Rehearsal

10:15-10:30--Break time

10:30-11:30--Rehearsal

11:30-1:00 Lunch

(this will be a free lunch)

1:15-2:30--Rehearsal

This is one of the first opportunities for senior adults for the fall and I repeat: "If not now...when? If not here...where? If not you...who? Hope to see you on the 5th!

Y.A.H...."Young At Heart" will have their  first meeting for the fall on Tuesday,  September 12th in the Family Life Center.

Here's the schedule:

10:45 A.M.--Fellowship  (FLC)

11:00 A.M.--Program

11:45 A.M.--Lunch

senior adults

MABS. . . "Monday Afternoon Bible Study" will begin on Monday, September 11. The time schedule is: 1:30-2:30 P.M. in Room 114

The study theme for this first five-week study will be: Doctrines Determine Direction! Our doctrinal beliefs not only determine our eternal destiny but also determine our day-by-day living as a child of God. We will include several doctrines that don't receive as much attention as others such as. . .

The Doctrine of Angels

The Doctrine of Satan

The Doctrine of Last Things
