Golden Hour with David Wax Museum & Lowland Hum
Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 PM
I am thrilled to share another great spring event with you. David Wax Museum will be hosting Golden Hour at FSBC on Thursday, May 19:
Toss out what you know about concerts. Golden Hour is a new live music experience that invites you to come and inhabit music.
Created in Charlottesville by Suz Slezak & David Wax (of David Wax Museum) and Lauren & Daniel Goans (of Lowland Hum), Golden Hour is an immersive live music experience like no other. The artists have been honing it since 2017, and in 2020, NPR showcased their work in a feature story: “These Charlottesville Musicians Want To Change The Way You Experience Live Music.”
During the hour-long event, the musicians move throughout the space among the attendees offering a dynamic, surround-sound experience. What initially seems like a unique way to engage with musical entertainment soon becomes an opportunity for presence, mindful stillness, and participation in a deep listening experience that is simultaneously individual and communal.
By removing visual stimulation Golden Hour provides calming and centering effects. Many past attendees have shared that Golden Hour is an experience that is restful, meditative, emotional, and healing.
From Stephen Kallao, host of NPR's World Cafe: “As someone who’d gone to thousands of concerts over my lifetime, Golden Hour was a revelation for me. It brought me back to my first show, the feeling of anticipation, surprise, and joy. It was like being reminded of why I fell in love with music in the first place. These musicians have crafted something special, one that will show how much we’ve taken the live music experience for granted, and how to recapture that magic again.”
Doors are at 7:30 PM; Music at 8 PM. Tickets are limited and may be purchased via the link below. FSBC members receive a $5 discount at checkout.
