Happy New Year!
I would like to wish you and yours a Happy New Year! I am increasingly grateful for my salvation, my family, for our congregation, and at this time of the year, the prospects for ministry in 2018. By all accounts, 2017 proved to be a year in which God gave favor to Field Street, especially in the area of stewardship. Let me highlight only a few of these blessings from God:
1)  Through you, God supplied our need to eliminate the debt on the Children's Building
2)  God honored Field Street this year in recognition by the BGCT as the top Cooperative Program Giving church in our size category
3)  God enabled us to give over $62,000 to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. I believe it is safe to say this is a record giving amount in the history of our church. Praise God! Thank you. I believe we are a giving church because of our obedience to Scripture. I believe God has given us a season of fruitfulness. I am asking Him to help us be faithful to proclaim the gospel of the Bible and in teaching the truth of Scripture as we have opportunity. I believe that biblically informed lives lead to greater obedience and Christ-honoring holiness.

New Year's Commitments
What commitments have you made as you begin 2018? The beginning of a new year is an opportune time to evaluate your habits, goals, stewardship of your life, and priorities. I wonder if you would be willing to make your church a crucial priority in 2018. We need you and we need you here on the Lord's Day. I wonder if you would be willing to reach out to your friends who do not have a church family. I wonder if you would be willing to pray for God to grow Field Street in 2018. I wonder if you would be willing to step into some area of service and ministry in 2018. I wonder if you will open your life up more and more to the Lord in 2018.

New Sermon Series on Job
Sunday, I began a compelling sermon series on the riveting story of Job. Trust me, this series of messages will touch all of our lives and challenge our thinking. Will you pray for God to use this series of sermons to deepen our awe of Him and to strengthen our resolve to live for His glory, even in the midst of circumstances we can't understand?

One of Our Core Values
One of our core values at Field Street is that every member would attend, serve, give, pray and invite. I want to challenge each of us to make 2018 a year in which we, at a minimum, reach new heights in our involvement in the life of the congregation. The church is the bride, the body of Christ. She is worthy of your attention and involvement. Let's work together to make this year another in which we see the favor of God in and through the life of our fellowship. Always and forever, may God be glorified in and through His church.

                                                                                                  See you Sunday!

TREE DECONSTRUCTION
This past Sunday, following the 11 a.m. service, we deconstructed the Living Christmas Tree. Thank you to all who stayed and helped put the tree away for another year!

THANK YOU!
I want to thank each and every person who had a part in this year's Living Christmas Tree. This year was a huge success and it would not have been possible without the support of Field Street Baptist Church.

CHOIR IS BACK!
On Wednesday, January 10, we will be kicking-off our Adult Choir for a brand new year. If you have ever sung in the choir or thought about singing in the choir, come join us. We meet at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room for a time of fellowship and preparation for leading in worship each week. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a place to serve at Field Street. There is absolutely no experience needed, only an open heart and mind ready to worship the Lord.

LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SERVE?
We are in need of volunteers to help run our lyric projection and lighting systems during our 11:00 a.m. worship service. All training will be provided. If you are looking for a place to get plugged in during this new year, we would love to have you help serve in the technical side of our morning worship services.

God Bless,

Student Ministry

Mission Statement: Teaching students to love, pursue, and worship Jesus while leading others to do the same.

We are getting set and prepared for an exciting 2018! Beginning Wednesday, January 10th, we will resume our regular ministry schedule. Our Covenant Groups will begin meeting once again on Sunday, January 14th.

Coming up on Sunday, February 4th, we will be hosting our annual Dessert Auction. As you may already know, this event is a huge opportunity for our students to raise money, in order to participate in events like DNOW, mission trip, and summer camp. Please consider how you can assist in this year's fundraiser. You can provide assistance through purchasing a table for your Bible Fellowship class, donating a dessert, purchasing a dessert, or just giving toward the student fund. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Another event we have on the horizon is our Disciple Now Weekend scheduled for March 23-25 here at Field Street. The greatest need we have is meals. If your Bible Fellowship class would like to help by providing a meal, please contact the church office.

If you would like to serve our students in any capacity, the biggest area of need is in our new 1-on-1 discipleship program. This is a new aspect of our ministry that aims to partner a more mature believer with a young student whose potential is waiting to be tapped into.  This ministry is centered around the commands of Jesus given in the Great Commission. If you would like to serve in this area of our ministry, or anywhere else, please visit our website or contact our office.

Senior Adult Ministry

I'm having a little trouble . . . writing the year 2018. There's an old saying: "Time flies when you're having fun." Well, as I grow older I realize more and more that "time flies" regardless if you're having fun or not. Since time is flying, let, me pause to express our appreciation for all the expressions of kindness we received from you during the Christmas season. Being a part of a loving Christian church family is such a wonderful blessing!

What's Coming?

Young At Heart--Tuesday, January 9. . . we will complete the list and gather the money for the tickets to the Gospel Concert at Southwestern Seminary on Friday, February 2. The cost is $20 a person. Checks need to be made out to Field Street since we will order our tickets online with the church credit card. The sign-up list will be available at our meeting in January.

JOYFUL SOUND. . . will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, January 9th.

MABS. . . I plan to begin my next study "The Mind of Christ," in January. The senior adultsstarting date of the five-week study will be Monday, January 15, and go through Monday, February 12. I'm excited about this study. God's Word tells us, "Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus!" That's quite a challenge. My preparation for this study has already been quite rewarding!

misc

Tuesday, February 13--Valentine Banquet. This will begin with a meal at 5:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Our special guests will be "River's Edge," a men's quartet from Burkburnet, Texas.

Just a reminder. . . our annual Senior Adult Revival will be April 22-25 with Dr. David Hardage as our guest preacher. David, of course, has ties with Cleburne through his wife and we're delighted that he is taking time to be with us. Put down this date. You don't want to miss a single service.
