From Our Pastor
Daniel Morrow Resigns
On Sunday, December 18, Daniel Morrow, Minister of Students, tendered his resignation. He has been called to Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth to serve in a similar position. We have appreciated Daniel's genuine love for students, his humility, and his growth in grace and ministry competence and effectiveness. He will be missed. Congratulations to Daniel and Jodi in this new chapter of their lives.
Your Response to Lottie Moon
Your response to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering was again generous and exemplary. Thank you. We are within reach of our church goal of $50,000. If you have not yet given, please plan to do so within the next several weeks. I'm grateful to be a part of a church with a generous heart.
Student Ministry Future
With the resignation of Daniel, we now find ourselves in a search and call mode. We are already in the process of receiving names, recommendations, and resumes for the Minister of Students position. The Personnel Committee will meet soon to identify a process that will be helpful in calling a new Student Minister. In the meantime, we have plans to provide solid programming for our students, particularly on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Please pray for this interim period to be spiritually fruitful. Please pray for the search process and for the person God will lead to FSBC. Watch the Sunday worship bulletin and e-mails for information and details regarding our Student Ministry. I believe that we can build on what is already in place during the interim period and as we prepare to welcome new leadership! We are especially blessed to have steady, committed workers in place to provide continued ministry to our students.
Eliminating the Debt on the Children's Building
As I write this article, we owe $382,602 on the children's building. I am hopeful we can pay off the remaining debt this year. I want to thank so many of you who have given sacrificially to help pay off the building. God bless you. My family anticipates completing our two-year commitment this year as well. Please continue to give and together we will watch God enable us to retire the debt on the children's building.
Living Christmas Tree 2016
Great Job! Well-done! I so appreciate Josh Thomas and many, many others who did such a splendid job with this year's LCT. I was grateful for the strong attendance and response at each of the presentations. To God be the glory!
Sermon on the Mount Series Continues
We will continue our trek through the Sermon on the
Mount this Sunday. What a series this has been to prepare. I've preached through Romans, Ephesians, and John in the last several years, but this series has been the most difficult and challenging. I know God is using this series of messages to speak deeply and directly to each of us and all of us. Please pray that God will enrich our worship gatherings in 2017 in ways in which He will be most glorified. I'm looking forward to this new year.
See you Sunday!

Music Ministry
TREE DECONSTRUCTION This Sunday, following the 11:00 a.m. service, we will be deconstructing the Living Christmas Tree. We will provide lunch after the service and then we will get to work! We need all hands on deck for this. Come and join us, bring a friend, and come ready to work. Thank you again. CHOIR IS BACK!
On Wednesday, January 4, we will kick off our Adult Worship Choir for this brand new year. If you have ever sung in the choir, thought about singing in the choir, or never thought about singing in the choir come join us. We meet at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room for a time of fellowship and preparation for leading in worship each week. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a place to serve at Field Street. There is absolutely no experience needed, only an open heart and mind ready to worship the Lord.
Blessings,
--Josh Thomas

Senior Adult Ministry I'M SURE. . . the Apostle Paul did not have a "new year" in mind when he wrote, "forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on. . ." but that's the Scripture that came to my mind when I began writing this first article for 2017. So, with that in mind. . . I'm pressing on! TUESDAY, JANUARY 10TH JOYFUL SOUND will begin rehearsal 9:30 -10:30 AM in the choir room. YOUNG AT HEART will have their first meeting of the year--10:45 AM in the Family Life Center. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH Young at Heart Valentine Banquet--special guest: Tammy Whitehurst, "We Gotta Laugh to Live" Before I get completely carried away. . ."pressing forward," let me pause to look back for just a second. One of the ministries we support through Young at Heart is "Threads of Love." This is a ministry to families of children who are in a Neonatal ICU. Of course, these are babies who are "at risk." "Threads of Love" provides items that promote healing and comfort, not only for the babies, but also for the mothers. Last year, our "Threads of Love" provided 1,906 such items. Our ministry is with the Medical Center of Arlington, but in addition, the ladies also provide a quilt and doll for every new-born baby in our church family. Carol Roberson is the director of this ministry and in 2016 they averaged 14 women each month. As I think about this wonderful ministry, the words describing Jesus and the children comes to my mind, "and He took them in His arms and blessed them." Let's join together as we press on. . .in 2017! --John Glover
