From Our Pastor
Billy Woods in View of a Call as Minister of Music
The Personnel Committee has enthusiastically and unanimously extended an invitation to Billy Woods to come in view of a call as our next Minister of Music on Sunday, June 10. Billy will be present with his wife, Amber, and their son, Luke Paul on this special Sunday. Billy and Amber are both graduates of Tarleton State University, and Billy is a graduate of Southwestern Seminary, having earned a Master of Church Music degree with concentration in Music Education and Vocal Performance. Currently, Billy serves as Associate Pastor and Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Godley, where he has served since 2014. Previously, he served at First Baptist Church, Cleburne for 5 years. Amber is an elementary education music teacher in Burleson. Our careful investigation of Billy (based on several interviews, reference checks, conversations with others who know Billy and his work, background checks, and site visits where he currently serves) reveals that he has all the requisite skills to lead a comprehensive music ministry. He is a gifted musician and vocalist and most importantly, has a heart for God, His Word, and His church. Furthermore, Billy has excellent experience and has enjoyed fruitful ministries where he has served. This Sunday, you will have access to printed materials regarding Billy. These materials will include a resume', job description, and proposed compensation package. It's going to be a very exciting Sunday as we welcome the Woods family in view of a call. I would like to offer a special word of thanks to our Personnel Committee for their thoughtful work: Dr. Dale Lucus, chr., Gene Gallagher, Nancy Holland, Ronda Bailey, and Harold Gilliam.
Summer Emphasis: Together
Our emphasis this summer is
TOGETHER-together in
worship, together in the
Word of God, together in our
work for the Lord, together on
Wednesdays, and together in our
witness in this community and beyond. I'm praying God gives us favor with a very fruitful summer of ministry and growing closer together!
Together in the WORD OF GOD
In addition to our Sunday morning Bible Fellowship hour at 9:45 a.m., this summer I intend to preach three mini sermon series in the month of June, July, and August. In June I will bring three messages which will hinge around the conjunction, "But." These messages will be from Romans 6:23; Hebrews 4:15-16; and 2 Corinthians 12:9. In July I will preach a series entitled, "The Most Consequential Questions in the Bible." Finally, in August I will deliver a series of messages entitled, "The Essential Disciplines of a Growing Christian." I know God will bless the exposition of His powerful Word. Our times together in God's Word will be rich and meaningful.
Pray for VBS!
VBS is just around the corner! Please pray for the spiritual impact upon the lives of children. It's one of the more meaningful weeks of the summer. God is doing a good work in and through Field Street. This summer promises to see God work to bring us into a deeper fellowship with Him. VBS is a useful tool in God's hands to write His name on the hearts of kids. Thank you to so many of you who contribute to make this week meaningful.
With much affection,
--John Hall, Pastor

Senior Adult Ministry THIS IS THE DATE--Sunday, June 24th! We're planning to travel to Tyler on Sunday afternoon for a Patriotic presentation at Green Acres Baptist Church. This is our schedule: We'll leave the church at 2:30 PM. We'll arrive in Tyler in time to have an evening meal and then on to the concert that begins at 7:00 PM. The concert is free, but we do need to tell them how many we'll be bringing. To get your name(s) on the list, please call the church office. We'll travel back home after the concert. Please call in as soon as possible. OUR HOMEBOUND MINISTRY. . .is making a new ministry possible. In addition to monthly visits, we have purchased several CD players to make it possible for some of our Homebound Ministry members to listen to our church services. Most of our Homebound Members were quite active in the life of our church until health needs made it impossible for them to attend. This is another way to "take their church" to them. One of the questions often asked in our visits is: "How is the church doing?" We're praying that this new ministry will help answer that question. --John Glover Return to top of page |
